I trust the appointment will go well, Clint. With the L'Orange Noir, at least you will smell superbly in the waiting room.:)
Love the Twinjector blades as well, Jim, although I keep saying I feel a little guilty using them. Glad you found a good match for the Port-au-Prince. Even though it is a Vetiver, it is a very unique one and not every AS in that group would necessarily be a great match.
Sounds like a potential focus, Perry! Nice photo today.
Another nice vintage brush, Mark. IMHO, ending any shave with CL is a good idea.
Stunning razor...Glad you are happy with your purchase.

Very nice Perry! I have one of those injectors as well (at least I think it's an L) ...now you're gonna make me get that one out too. I only have the two, though. :)

    Great photo Mark!

Congrats on the sweet new toy!! Sure does look shiny in the photo!

Very nice photo Jason!! Love that razor! The brush & bowl aren't too shabby either! ;)

Thank you, Bruce. If you happen to come across a NEW LC, I'd recommend it. The SC is also well-regarded, but you don't seem to see as many of them.

Thank you guys. At least the process started today. Have some lab tests and images ordered. Hopefully we can figure out what the issues are and develop a game plan for addressing them.

I would also add the 3 piece New Deluxe in either 15mm or 17mm base plate. It was made in the USA and has a flat bottom. I found it to be a little smoother and more efficient the New LC. The modern Ikon Open Comb Deluxe is supposed to be based on the New Deluxe. Regretfully I didn't measure them both in detail when I had the chance.

Several school systems in northeast Alabama near Gadsden are closed all day today and tomorrow due to high numbers of absences related to flu. Staff and students.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I'm finally starting to come out of it. Both my girls have influenza a, and Mrs. Gulch is desperately trying not to get this bug. On the plus side, the renovation has finally started, and the crew has started the Demo work. I should have a new shave den within the next six months.

Good information, Clint. I've never come across any of the New Improved models in the wild, let alone a New Deluxe specifically. It is a bit of a 'gap' in my den in terms of Gillette 3 piece chronology. I have thin cap and thicker cap OTs, and then the NEW LC obviously, then a prewar and postwar Tech.
How do you rate the New Improved models overall? You say the Deluxe is more efficient and smoother than the LC. I find that interesting as, for me, the LC is about as smooth as it gets with a vintage 3 piece.
Does it matter which handle/model (Bostonian,Tuckaway, Bulldog, etc.) or do they shave the same? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I am not an expert by any means so I am not familiar with all the different New Deluxe Models. I had the Red Black New Deluxe set as pictured on Mr Razor below. In my research there were do different base plate sizes, 15 or 17mm. If I recall correctly I had the 15mm. I did find it to be just a bit smoother and more efficient than my New LC. I thinned out the Den and sold off both the R&B Deluxe and my replated New LC so I am going by memory. You will see R&B sets for sale on the bay often. Most are boxed New LC. However, occasionally you will see the flat bottom in the picture.

I'm definitely no expert either, that's why I asked!
I believe this is my model below: Mr Razor describes it as a 1940 'NEW Gold Special' Made in Canada:

The Gold plating has long since worn off mine!

I will agree with Clint. I have a New Standard and it is just a tad more "aggressive/efficient" then the NEW. Its not a whole lot, but just enough to notice a difference. That being said I like the New SC better, but of course the MonoBilt is king.

Ok, now I'm really confused. I always thought that the New Deluxe was a New Improved model, but according to your pic, it would be 1934 and therefore 5 years after the end of the New Improved models (the aforementioned Bostonian, etc). So the Deluxe is a NEW, but with a completely different baseplate. Ok.
