The Standard is definitely a New Improved, right? 1920s?

    Yup.
Can't wait to get it back home. 2 month turnaround, though.:sad024:

There was a big thread on B&B that basically indicated the R&B New Deluxe was a New with a Deluxe base plate.

So the new New Improved head had round holes for the posts on the top cap and flat on the top and bottom of the base plate. While the New Deluxe head was flat on the bottom of the base plate and the top is just like the other NEW's with the groove in the middle.

To make things more confusing there also a different New head made in England call a Raised Flat Bottom. Haven't had the pleasure of shaving with a New Deluxe or a RFB.

Pre-shave: hot shower & Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash
    Brush: Omega Professional 49
    Soap: Arko stick
    Razor: vintage Ever Ready 1912
    Blade: GEM stainless (5)
Post-shave: Assured WH, Nivea Men Sensitive PS Balm, Aqua Velva Musk AS / Cologne

I put the GEM Micromatic OC away for today's shave and went for one that I've only used once or maybe twice. I'm glad I did. This razor gave me an unbelievably comfortable shave. I did two passes overall. My cheeks are very smooth. My neck not so much, but that's normal. I managed a weeper on the neck below my chin but I didn't even notice that until I was cleaning up. I went for the Aqua Velva Musk for a second day in row because I liked it yesterday and it was right there in front of me this morning.

Tomorrow is Gillette Adjustable Friday so I'm planning to participate.

    Happy shaves everyone!

I've heard that on the news... affecting several different states and school systems. Is yours included?

No, we're not included. It seems to be waning here some but accelerating in some other areas. A private school in our area closed for five days to thoroughly clean and disinfect their whole school.

It’s been a rough week in the Gulch household. On Tuesday, I attempted to shave with my new B&M Sinfonia soap and the Azuma Kamisori. I had been looking forward to trying this scent, because I really like jasmine. I smelled it when I first opened it on Monday, and it was great, but I didn’t get the normal subtle mix of scents B&M usually gives me. When I shaved on Tuesday, I couldn’t smell a thing. Was a little shaky from the flu, but I figured what was the worst that could happen with a razor my wife refers to as my prison shiv. Did my cheeks, and my hands were shaking. The razor was also pulling, and I couldn’t find the right angle. I actually followed @Keithmax advice, and put the razor down. I grabbed my trusty G1 injector, finished one pass to get four days of whiskers off, and called it done.

Last night, I grabbed my 12k stone and did a bit of a touch up on the kami. This morning I wasn’t as shaky as I had been. I stropped up the Azuma, and went to work. I got the edge quite a bit better, but not all the way there. I did a N/S and a S/N pass, then a cleanup XTG with the G1 razor. I actually smelled a lot of subtle note in the Sinfonia, and enjoyed the shave. Overall, a DFS with zero irritation. I will work on the edge a little more before my next shave.

Good to hear you are on the mend. Hope Mrs. Gulch avoided the ick. The 30 DC LE looks great with that tall boar knot!

Great photo and lineup Dan. The 1912 looks in really good shape.

I see you like Supply Co. ;) Just kidding. Fantastic lineup John. :happy088:

    Wonderful lineup and photo. :eatdrink047:

Glad you are feeling a little better Adam. You guys have had a rough winter. Over course the "prison shiv" is one cool looking razor.

I think it's a good thing you finally came to your senses and put that razor down. I'd like to say I would have done the same thing. We all know how likely that might be. Glad to hear you're feeling better. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing your wife calls that razor a shiv. Hopefully she's not watching Oz reruns and getting ideas on how to not only stop the cost of your shaving, but collect the insurance money at the same time!
