Friday at last and it has certainly been a week. An excellent shave was just what I needed. The big Flat Top really tore into the Mike's. I find that Mike's requires adding a good bit of water slowly. I can see why some people find it a little tricky to lather. For me it is worth the effort with the wonderful citrus and woodsy scent filling the room. Three passes and touch ups left me with a near perfect shave. A splash of Fine L'Orange Noir and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.

The NEW LC is my favorite vintage Gillette. The NEW SC is a close second. I was fortunate to find a NOS NEW SC on Ebay a couple of years ago. It looked as it had never been used, and it still had the cardboard insert between the top and bottom plates.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick J1 injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Nice and easy shave today, as usual for Friday. The Fat lathered up beautifully and the J1 worked like a charm. Smooth sailing.

This was my first use of the new bottle of Fine American Blend. I used the old bottle with the striped design previous to this. I detect a huge difference. The new bottle's scent is much more muted. It seems to have already worn off only 90 minutes after applying. There is still good skin care elements and a nice menthol coolness, but the scent strength is disappointing. I had heard that the new bottles changed formulations and the scents were muted, but I hadn't had any evidence until now. Oh well.....just might mean I'll stalk the BST places looking for the striped bottle!

    Have a great Friday!

It's quite rare to encounter a Turbo Encabulator failure, but I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Very nice photo and gear Perry! That's a bummer they changed the formula, and not for the better.

Great setup, Jim! Congrats on finishing off a soap!

Great photo, Clint! Good to know about Mike's being thirsty. I have a partial tub of Mike's Coconut and will remember to use more water.

Great setup and photo, Mark! Love that brush.
