    Proraso Pre Shave
    Old Spice Musk
    JR #258 Synthetic
    Lee Mfg.
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Aqua Velva Musk

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Old Spice Musk Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the JR #258 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Lee Mfg. 5/8 Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Deodorant - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Dapper Doc's Lilac & Fig"
Fragrance - Le Labo "The Noir 29"

Yesterday it was a glorius day. I received my package from Catie's Bubbles with the exclusive "The Dark Side" set and I also received a package from PAA with the Dapper Doc's set which I selected to pair with Le Labo's "The Noir 29". At first sniff these smell like a match meant for each other. Saturday morning will be quite the experiment.

    ...Update

Great shave today. Did a 3-pass + clean up. BBS with only the slightest irritation which was on a typical spot on my neck that his hit & miss when I attempt a pass across the grain on it. It's completely my fault and has nothing to do with the products. The PAA shave soap is even better than the previous stuff I bought over a year ago. I don't know what was changed but it's definitely a noticable upgrade in performance. I score PAA as high as Catie's Bubbles now. The Dapper Doc scent as predicted is a decent match for The Noir 29 fragrance. The lilac floral does add something that isn't in the normal profile however, so it does change The Noir 29 some, but I like it and will continue to use this set as is.

    February 9 - A week with Williams. Day 1

    Razor - Gem MMOC
Blade - [IMG] ASR Carbon - CVS (1)
    Soap - Williams
Brush - Omega 10066 The BoS
    Post - Alum

Well, I promised Fuzzy I'd give Williams a week of shaves since he helped me out with the blade issue. I'm a Czar of my word. I stowed the Stirling away for the next 7 days and pulled the Williams out of the back corner of the cabinet. I actually summoned it with the Accio spell since I had tried my best to hide it. I took it out of its secure metal container, breaking the security seal following the required notification to the St. Charles County haz-mat team. With that done and the Williams in place in my VDH bowl, I chose the Omega boar, 10066 brush (known as the Brush of Shame since it's why I broke a NB July a couple years ago) and got set to shave.

New blade in the OCMM and I took a deep breath, looked longingly at my cabinet of Stirling, Route 66, Oleo, Jeeves, MWF and Tabac (did I mention the enablers around here were brutal last year?) and a few others odds and ends and wet the Williams puck, left the brush fairly wet and went to work loading. It didn't take long for the bowl to fill with a lather like substance. Actually looked pretty good, just those bigger bubbles I get with Williams, and I loaded the brush hard. Lathered my face and grabbed the razor.

My usual experience with Williams is a very fast dissipating lather, though it does remain slick enough to shave with if you hurry. Tonight I was a bit pleased to see the lather, thin though it was, hanging around for the full pass. And, the pass was super smooth and seemed slick enough. Definitely not bad. Lathered up for the second pass and while the soap thinned out a bit more than the first pass I still made it through the pass without losing it all. No nicks, cuts, weepers. Near-BBS result with the new blade and the alum remained mostly quiet.

I squeezed the brush out and got a partial handful of bubbles. But hey, I got the shave in and it was comfortable and effective. Definition of what a soap is supposed to do, right? We'll see if I can improve over the next week and come up with something I never expected. A rave about the high quality of Williams. Odds anyone?
