I don’t have a Fred’s , but I spoke too soon on the Brisk; I just found 2 bottles of it at DG. I splashed some on in the truck- I like it better than Skin Bracer because the menthol is stronger! Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve seen pacific rush on eBay, but it’s pretty expensive because it’s been discontinued.

Awesome - glad you found some! I find the menthol in the Brisk to be pretty heavy, but in a good way. I like cold splashes.

@Drygulch added even more menthol crystals to his bottle of Brisk. :Animatedfrozensmily:

I agree with both of you, Barbasol Brisk is very similar to Skin Bracer, but with more menthol. I too like it better.

I have a bottle of Pacific Rush that is 80% full. If I keep it for a few years, maybe I can sell it at quite the markup as a discontinued, vintage product. An estate find.

You might! Never know with this hobby. Reminds me of my grandfather who kept his neckties long enough that they came back in style! He was in his 90s and ties from the 25 or 30 years before were en vogue again!

I guess Fuzzy has worn me down! My first impressions of Williams were un remarkable. I’ ve decided it’s a great shavette soap and I have had a lot of success lathering it. It’s strange I’ve tried many expensive luxurious soaps, but I seem to prefer the cheap stuff- Williams, Van Der Hagan, Arko, Clubman.

    Menthol Monday

    SOTD 2.12.2018
Pre-shave: hot shower & Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash
    Brush: Barbury's synthetic
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
    Razor: 1924 Ever-Ready SE
    Blade: GEM Stainless (1)
Post-shave: Assured WH, Nivea Men Cooling PS Balm, Osage Rub splash

I pulled out my other Ever Ready SE razor, the 1924, which I acquired last summer but have used only once or maybe twice. I'm sorry to say that because it gave me a remarkable shave this morning almost a BBS but not quite. I need to spend more time with my SEs.... oh wait, that's what I'm doing this month. :)

This one made more noise than the ER 1912 but it was a very comfortable shave. Two passes, and a touch of clean-up on my neck. I noticed a tiny weeper at the end of the shave, but it was easy to treat and the post shave feels great a few hours afterwards.

Today was the 2nd time I've used the heavily, mentholated Osage Rub. I followed John's @Screwtape advice and washed off my hands so I didn't have the burning sensation I did a couple of weeks ago on my hands and under my wedding band. It doesn't have that same effect on the face.... I suspect it's the dry skin on the hands, which I get every winter.

    Happy shaves everyone!

How does the 1924 compare to the 1914-efficiency, blade feel, and so forth?
