I'm very pleased with the Duke 3! I consulted with our resident brush geek Jared (@PickledNorthern) before buying my last two brushes. This was one of his recommendations.

Pre-shave: hot shower & Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash
    Brush: Barburys synthetic
    Soap: Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Razor: GEM Jr.
    Blade: GEM Stainless (3)
Post-shave: TN Dickinson's WH, Dove Men +Care PS Balm, Jeris Musk For Men AS / Cologne

I was inspired to use the Williams for the second day in row by Bruce's @FaceScraper success in using it today. While I've been having quite a bit of luck with Williams the last couple of months, yesterday it was temperamental and I wanted to have another go with it. It was much better lather and longer-staying lather today. Using the GEM Jr. I had a CFS shave overall after two passes.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Thank you Charlie! I don't worry much about having original cases for razors. Shopping like I do at thrift stores I don't often see them available. Since Chris @Bama Samurai hooked me up with a J-1 Schick, I've regretted the injectors I passed up prior to that one. They looked like lesser tools next to an all metal DE. Learned my lesson though. With the thicker blades they do give good shave. Seeing the massive Museum lot that Andrew @Linuxguile scored has sharpened my eye when I'm out visiting my local shops. If the price is right, cased or not, any injector from type A to Z just might come home with me.

You know how shy Fuzzy is. ;)

It works well. I didn’t lather the KMF so it wouldn’t get too rich for the shavette. It’s so slick and the post shave is so good that it turned out great.

So... A couple of changes for me during my first 30 day rule! My alum block arrived today and I have swapped to a Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave Balm.
I had ordered the alum a few days ago, but felt the need to swap to the Nivea (cost me £2.49) due to visibly dry skin on my face. I attribute the dry skin to the alcohol content in the Bluebeards Revenge aftershave.

To the shave... It was a nice shave, rode the cap well (I felt) with minimum pressure. The alum actually echoed this - the only stinging being on the nick that I gave myself on my adam's apple. The Nivea didn't cause any stinging after the shave either. Happy chappy today! Oh, and I've ordered the Proraso white to replace the Bluebeards Revenge shave cream (which also contains alcohol).

    Cheers,

    James

That brush handle looks absolutely great - the piece of wood chosen, the design of the handle, and the way the wood grain flows with the design.
