If you look at an E2, G1, and G8 side by side, it's clear that Eversharp played around with head geometry a bit. The E2 and E3 (sorry, I don't have an E4) have a different, deeper Safety Bar than the G1. By contrast, the G8 seems to have a geometry similar to that of the E2. Unfortunately, I don't have any intervening examples to know when the change back occurred. I also don't have any Canadian Injectors.

Oddly, on my face, this causes an inversion of the usual claims. I find the G1 to be "bitey" but the E2 and G8 to be smooth and efficient. I'll concede that some of it might be technique and am starting to wonder if I might need to do skin stretching with the G1 for a better result.

Skin stretching does help. I always feel the G8 and E2 are closer to biting. I really likey though.

You're going to stick with a 7 oz. sloap(Jeeves)from beginning to end?

No, this isn't a full tub. What's remaining in this tub is probably less than an ounce. I've never had a full tub of Jeeves. My CT speaks for itself! ;)

Well, I just got an answer (of sorts) from the AliExpress vendor about my Baili order:

"Sorry, the new and old packaging of this product is updated, and the product is sent at random. Thanks for your understanding."

I read this as Baili updated the style without changing the model number and they sent whatever they had laying around. Although, I would probably disagree with the use of the term "random" to describe the process.

I really can't be too upset. I actually used a coupon so I only had about $2.50 invested and got what is probably a usable razor... just not the one I was expecting.

    February 18 SOTD:

    Razor: Razorock Mamba
    Blade: Sputnik
    Brush: Stirling Marble
    Lather: Stirling Agar
    Aftershave: Stirling Agar
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

I took a break from the Timeless today and went my other acquisition, the Mamba. I have to say, it was pretty smooth for a first shave. Definitely mild, but on two passes, it was a DFS. This could be along the lines of a lot of Gillette razors in that you can go on cruise control and end up with a nice shave. I also used some Stirling Agar, as I am still thinking about the Maggards London Barbershop. I had ordered the last test batch of the soap a while back, but they didn't have the AS available at the time, so it was time to pair them up. It is just a terrific scent. Right up there with Sandalwood, IMO. This all set the stage for a nice day, even if I have to pop into work for a few hours. I hope everyone has a great day!

I've actually done a few shaves with a KMF and a cheap Kabuki brush from Dollar General. It actually wasn't bad. The knot is soft and dense. The big issue is that it is also very small and short lofted. I suspect it might have issues with loading soap from a puck but might be okay with face lathering a stick.

That's a bummer. They basically said "You got a razor. What more do you want?" At least you don't have much in it.

FAVuary But is it a G-8?

    Stirling Piacenza sample
    30 DC LE Cashmere Cypress
    Suribachi & cool water
    Schick G-8 (?) & Chick blade
    Alum, Pinaud Special Reserve
SOTD 02182018 G-8 I think.gif Not sure how long this Schick has been in my den, and I don't recall taking it for a shave. I'm hoping Fuzzy @wchnu can confirm my guess at identifying. The handle has ridges on four sides, and a mold mark top & bottom. Fairly certain a G type, and maybe the more aggressive number 8? Whipped up a goopy wet Stirling lather with the Limited Edition handle and had an expectedly smooth reduction. No hunting for my angle of attack, light on the pressure, and three passes in my normal W,A,& XTG pattern. With lots of lather still in the bowl I got in a good S-Slide and chin buffing session. Alum what quiet, no irritation where I worked my neck on the fourth pass. A high DFS with no errors! Celebrated with a splash of one of Ed's finest colognes.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Today’s shave was brought to me by the following:

    Razor: WCS
    Brush: Thater 4125/1
    Soap: Jeeves Bay Rum
    Blade: Shark Super Stainless
    A/S: Old Spice

Decided to enjoy the shave today using the Jeeves that Adam @Drygulch sent. Fantastic performance and scent with this soap.

Three passes (because I was greedy and enjoying the soap) and I’m good to go!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

Gentleman is such a fantastic soap.

You didn’t make a mistake. If I remember correctly, when the raffle went down, I was not present much for a couple of weeks, missed signing up, or was stupid late or something. I do remember congratulating Brian on winning tho.

I was totally hacking on you, not feeling left out. I have my big boy pants on today.
