February 24 - A week with Tabac - Day 4

Day four with Tabac, final day 5 on the blade. After an incredibly surprising Saturday of mega-sales, I'm a bit tired and tense. The Tabac and JR46 took care of the tension. I managed to get into zen mode and produced a fantastic lather that set up three slow passes of shaving relaxation and effectiveness. The blade remains smooth though it is showing signs of age. Still produced a near-BBS result with no issues and quiet alum. Three passes of zen shaving with the OCMM that proved again how good a razor it is.

Hope you had a great Saturday as well but perhaps a bit more relaxing than mine!

Nice relaxed shave. 1 pass CCS, decided to make another XTG and slight touch ups. Not quite baby, but very nice for no ATG! Pre-superlather! Bourbon Cremo pairs great with MERS Barbershop and Rose Thayers, chased with SB Burnished Leather!First pass proof in the pudding!

I added listing my arthritis bath salt that has a hint of Frankincense from the essential oil it uses. And I also decided to try out WSP's Sandalwood Bar Soap to pair with this shave and these two products really layered something fantastic into the Viking fragrance experience, even if it was very minor. So, since these two seemed to give something to this overall shave experience I'm adding them to the list. WSP doesn't seem to carry the Sandalwood scent in their bar soap, so I emailed WSP to inquire if Sandalwood could be made in a limited quantity so some customers can buy backup soaps.

Loved my shave today. The Gold Dachs soap puck is going to last forever as my last couple of shaves don't even seem to dent it. Clearly the soap is milled a ridiculous number of times and is made to last a very, very long time. It's a clean sandalwood scent and very light. While you can certainly smell it when applying lather, the scent leaves almost immediately when rinsed off.

My shave today was irritation-free and very comfortable. While not the closest shave, I was trying to go easy today so my skin can recover from a slight Adam's Apple irritation from yesterday's shave. My cheeks and jaw are BBS though.

For a tallow free soap this isn't bad. Slickness is reasonable and post shave is okay. The scent is pretty subdued but I like it, a faint earthy lavender with subtle but fresh lime.

Deep waters for the Kai blade, never been past 7 shaves personally. No worries at all though as it just sliced through the whiskers in 3 passes plus a touch up on the chin for a BBS finish and feel. No skipping or pulling of the hair and still felt quite smooth and sharp. Maiden voyage here for the newly acquired Yaqi brush and I will say that it performed wonderfully. Very soft feeling tips, decent backbone and a lather making devil. Just a great shave to start out the day. Have a great day and magnificent shaves Gents....

I tend to use SEs mostly but the Gibbs always delivers

 

I don't know how I did it because my Astra blade really gave up the ghost, but I still managed to get a very good BBS shave although I quit after two passes. There was just no way I could even dream of trying to squeeze a third pass out of, although I can't complain since it gave me a week of faithful service. I used the Egyptian version of Palmolive Menthol cream which lathers exactly the same way as the Italian version, it has the same awesome menthol effect and great skincare, but the scent is completely different. The Rubby Dubby Doo felt so heavenly!

Unconditionally Superb Shave
