Thanks, Buddy. I feel bad for all the kids. These kids work countless hours on their audition pieces to be selected. If I had to make an educated guess, I would say that Danie worked on hers for at least a five hour a week average for seven or eight months. This was to be their second performance. The first was last summer after spending a week with their group and conductor. This was just the big deal because they were going to play Orchestra Hall. So the whole thing wasn’t a wash, she got some scholarship money because of it, and was automatically bumped past the first round of auditions at the colleges she was interested in. It just sucked, all the way around.

Thank you. They are a really good brush for what they ask for them. I think I would say the exact same thing if they were $65.

Hey John. I hope you are feeling better. It is nice to see your Supply Co SE and Soap Destroyer in action. 4.5 days of stubble...I bet that was a satisfying shave. To change things up this month, I've been going two to three days between shaves with the Parker SRX. It has been fun to knock off a few days of growth at a time with the shavette.

I've also been away for a few days, and I'm 1,000,007 posts behind. Did I miss any group hugs, Nealisms, accidents, shaving items bought under the influence of adult beverages, Cartel initiatives, or Reggae hits?

Think I'm finally caught up...whew. There have been a bunch of awesome photos and setups...too many to comment on all of them. Great job keeping the thread lively, fellas! :)

Here's a little story from yesterday, just in case you are having trouble falling asleep.

My wife and I went up to our hometown to see her grandma, since her birthday was on Friday. My wife suggested having my mom come over to check on the "zoo" while we were gone, but I shunned the idea. It's nice that she moved from Pittsburgh to our area. But, I don't want to constantly bug her to look after our pets, even though she never seems to mind. It was a fairly quick trip since we had to get back to our pets. Plus we're babysitting our neighbor's dog.

On our way home, I heard my phone buzz. It was a notification from our alarm system that there was an upstairs glass break sensor alert. Not cool. Within seconds my phone rang and it was the alarm monitoring company. They asked if they should dismiss it as a false alarm, or send the police. I chose the latter, just to play it safe. We didn't figure it was an actual break-in, but maybe one of the cats knocked something on the floor that set it off. Or, worse, that one of the windows or sliding glass door did somehow get broken, allowing the pets to get out.

My wife called my mom and, explaining the situation, asked if she could go over - even though the police were to be on the way. If nothing else, Mom could help out in the event that pets got out. Mom got there before the police, walked around the house, and no windows were broken. At this point we were 15 minutes from home. My wife asked her to just stay in the car and not go in the house, just in case the police showed up. We didn't want them thinking that she broke in.

Apparently there was a bad accident that the police got dispatched to, but if we called them, they'd go over. We opted out....we were almost home.

Once we got home, we went in through the garage, and opened the door to the downstairs. We were greeted by Izzy...one of our dogs...who was supposed to be in her crate! THAT'S what set off the glass break sensor - her breaking out of the crate. Surprisingly, the rest of the house contents were intact. Which is why she gets put in a crate when we aren't home. She's such a sweet dog, and doesn't get into anything when we're home. When we aren't...different story. She'll level the place. We HATE to crate her, but it beats the alternative. Slight separation anxiety...

At least we know that the glass break sensors work.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and some fantastic shaves!!

At least a bit of good came out of it, but it still sucks that it went down the way it did. Especially for the kids. All the practice that went into it, then to not be able to play.

Shush! Don't give 'em any ideas! I didn't get one yet.:D

Have a safe flight and hope you enjoy your time in Japan, there are many beautiful places to visit. Not to meant the strangeness of a new culture.

I think Chris has covered the key items from the last week. We would not have been nearly as successful in dealing with the rogue asteroid though without the inspiration of the Crew's new math, physics and metaphysics prof, Peaches. You really should check out her lectures, which have been posted by Chris @Bama Samurai. High concepts like "Egyptian" mathematics and the Slinky of Time, all delivered while in something like an LSD flashback...

    February 25 - A week with Tabac - Day 5

    Razor - Gem MMOC
Blade - [IMG] ASR Carbon - CVS (1)
    Soap - Tabac
Brush - Stirling Two Band Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Fifth day on Tabac and it's been a good five days. New blade in the OCMM tonight and the Stirling Synthetic for the win on the lather. I decided going in that I didn't care about the result as much as getting it done. I'm tired after another super busy day and I just need it to be good enough to make it through tomorrow. Well, with this razor, a brand new carbon blade and the slick and cushy Tabac - two passes and some minor touch up got me a very nice DFS. That'll do, pig, that'll do.

Hope your week gets off to a good start for you tomorrow.

Well, yes and no. If you know what you're doing and have mastered the technique, it is possible to get a closer shave in less passes, although it isn't necessarily a given. Some of the straight lovers on here do 4 passes every day, going for gradual beard reduction rather than trying to get it all done in a hurry. Sometimes the "art of the thing" is as important as the result!

We are three days away from the end of February! Another fantastic and busy month around here. Seems like we may have started something with FAVuary.

March Madness is always the theme around here in March. We're not talking MAYhem level stuff here. I describe March Madness as a time to try new things, new combinations, experimental stuff, comparing products like a tournament etc. March is also traditionally a big PIF month for TSD so there should be some opportunities to win some stuff as well!

You'll also see some Russian Steel from the Cartel in March. Looks a lot like the picture below. It looks like it because it IS it. A total of 280 Russian blades that will find new homes. Stay tuned! Thanks for your continued support of this fantastic forum and thread and let's take February out like a lion!

    IMG_00000165.jpg

A quick snap of tonight's shaving gear:
Supply Co SE v.2 injector on two-dot plate / Personna (3)
Kent BK12 "The Soap Aircraft Carrier" brush in "The Dry Dock" shaving bowl
    TSD Sandalwood lanolin soap
Alum and TSD Sandalwood Milk Aftershave

As I expected, the same two-pass pattern that took a 4.5 day stubble down to a CCS yesterday took a one day stubble back down to my normal DFS today. Alum showed no real signs of irritation.

As tomorrow is the start of a new week, I think I will move on to a new soap for the remainder of February -- the TSD Bay Rum.
