@RyX - I didn’t realize that’s what it was about. I’ve always thought it was funny, like he had his own Paulism or something.

So there is no way I am going to catch up on the thread. Anyone have a recap? Work has been busy, and the family is doing well. If you finished some soap this month, can you send me a message?

Here’s my last shave for February, planed for the morning. All artisan shave, Osiris Blades, 30 DCLE, and Jeeves of Hudson Street Cherry Blossom.

I'm in! I've had a blast using my Parker SRX shavette this month. I'm getting consistently fantastic two-pass plus touch-up shaves. I will continue with it through April. I'm shaving every couple of days, give or take, so that will give me somewhere around 50 to 60 sequential open blade shaves.

Using a shavette causes me to slow down, really focus on my technique, and just enjoy the shave. For science, I once applied my shave cream brushless and went for a quick shave with no problems. I shave twice on a half-blade and then swap it out. I have tried several different Russian DE blades so far. I don't see a lot of difference between blades, but my favorite by a slim margin has been the Voskhod for its smoothness. I'll eventually try one of my beloved 'Murican blades in it.

Some time past there was a change in the way Quotes work. The Multi-Quote was added. I think that was when things went sideways for folks. Paul wasn't the only member having issues, but he got caught up and *somebody* pointed out him being "inside the quotes". Once he got outside, it was too late. Little things like that will get a CT hung on you f o r e v e r.

I'm working on finishing some Jeeves Turkish Bath. It combined with my previous sample of Jamestown Gentleman will qualify for an entry.

Glad to see you back and that everyone is doing well!

And that’s exactly what we are doing. 20 inch wide footers on the addition, to support the existing slab and the crawl space for the addition. Will have to tear down the existing garage instead of converting it to living space, because that slab isn’t reinforced. Will add cost and time, but is doable.

Very nice. That's pretty much my experience with blades also. I like your point about slowing down. It's what I like about shavettes. It's a slow, precise skill thing.

Lutz Slant DE - New Old Stock
    Polsilver Superior Iridium blade
Alum block, Shulton Old Spice AS
SOTD 02272018 Last Rt66 RetroSpice PolsilverSI.gif Mixed up between Latest and Vintage gear for a comfy favorites shave. Had a little smudge of a sample of soap so I made my lather in the series II or III OS ceramic mug circa '41 to the '50's. Haven't added any brushes to my den since Jason blessed us with his Limited Edition Set so it qualifies as new. Between the three I had plenty of lather. Checked the blade I left in my latest razor - visually it was clean and chose to go with it. The German made Slant is reported to be made in the 1930's, but never distributed making it almost 80 years vintage New Old Stock. It polished up better than any Gillette from the wild & gives good shave. Does it shave better than a regular DE? Not a great difference but three passes and all the fiddly bits brought me into the DFS zone. Alum said I did good, so a double splash of Shulton OS AS finished me for the evenings reduction.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Just for the record the pink seat covers are gone....

Not hard to do. I think a weishi is a good razor.
    Those are fun.

Thanks to @PickledNorthern i got to try Sterling ozark mountain. Wow great scent. I may like it more then the electric sheep actually. The TOST LE brush did a great job and the 1913 ER lather catcher was outstanding!! What a shave!!!

Hmm, I was kidding around about commissioning a brush right now, because I am serious about my NB this time -- after all, I have actual money riding on it this time! (Well, Russian razor blades from Neal @NCoxSTL if I succeed and a brush knot to him if I don’t.) However, if trades are an option... I do have a rather large collection of stuff to do swaps with...

@Jayaruh, maybe we should take this to the PMs and haggle...

I haven't tried Nivea brand products. Three questions; How's the performance & scent, and what is that appliance attached to the tube? Space age Flash Gordon squeeze tub roller upper thingie?

Thanks Patrick. I wasn't sure I'd like OS until I bought a bottle of the new stuff. It's acceptable. Then I found my first vintage bottle - better!

Performance is great . Lathers well . Only need a pea sized drop.Scent is very pleasant and not perfumy to my nose . The space age thingy is the same as you would use for toothpaste tubes to keep the cream to the front and less chance of the tube crinkling and cracking . Plus you also squeeze every last drop out of the tube .
