Sorry, no time for a pic today. Had a great shave today with two passes and a hint of touch up, mowing down a few days of growth for an excellent BBS shave.

 

Today's shave was with a first time used razor. Newly acquired, restored, and honed. I had a flawless 2 pass shave, that left me smooth as silk. Zero issues, from a fantastic razor. These little Ducks are great razors.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #105 two-band badger brush. I did two passes with the Henckels Rapide Razor using a Henckels Wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

I never forget, I just wonder why I wait so long between uses!

Very nice shave with the Donkey Milk GD soap. Just as good as the other formulas and the scent has a excellent pine woodsy vibe. Finished off with Fougere Gothique, perfect ending for a smooth shave.

Menthol Monday shave! The scent of Champaign Lady paired great with Deep Ellum, not identical but they complimented eachother well. Took my time to get the lather consistancy I was looking for, no problem plus it took on a boatload of water and held strong. BBS shave and well moisturized from the Deep Ellum balm.

The scent of SMG Passion is a bit fruity and I detect a cherry note as well. Very nice scent and there was no burning from the fragrance oils which I was concerned about at first. Got a decent shave and finished off a sample of PAA Black Bot balm. Hope everyone is doing well and getting great shaves!

Looking at the well respected Paradigm 17-4 razor I was contemplating how far head design for modern high end razors has strayed from the 1904 Gillette. Most seem way more influenced by the Merkur or Gillette New Improved. Thinking Paradigm and ATT though made me dig out the Apollo, which though it has a very very slight curve to the bottom plate* still has a lot of the same characteristics, the narrow plate, clamped midsection, small cap span,..And maybe that's why it shaves so freaking well. Marvelous single pass head shave. Nacet. MFF #3.

*Are there performance reasons for a perfectly flat bottom plate (even where the blade floats above) or is that simply easier to machine??

Well I see I've fallen behind thanks to work today. Guess I'll do some reading and get caught up. In the meantime the shave was a thing of wonder again thanks to the FatBac and 30DC brush. So easy to get a world-class lather up and the scent just mesmerizes me. Plus the quality of the lather is as good as it gets.

Two passes and touch ups with the OCMM and carbon blade for a near-BBS and I'm a very happy camper with that. No need to chase the baby tonight. It might harsh the mellow of the shave.

One more day in February so keep it coming. March Madness is up next and we'll get to that. For now, let's keep those FAVuary shaves front and center!
