Sorry to hear that. My old ranger was a good truck, but there comes a point where the cost of repairs just isn't worth it. That's why I sold my Jeep.

Increasing in numbers on a Gillette adjustable never made sense to me, especially with several days growth. When I adjust, it's always to a lower number although I've gotten used to setting them on 9 and only reduce for clean-up. I'm not saying either is wrong, just saying what I do.

Yep...run them how they feel comfortable to you and your beard.

This month's focus so far has been to stick with the same equipment until my soap (Proraso White) runs out.

It has been going relatively well, getting some comfortable and socially acceptable shaves. I am struggling to get at the area under the chin however. Tonight, I chased the baby and got burned! Ahhh well... Live and learn!

Do you do any kind of skin stretching?

I am trying to get the skin stretching down! Not all that great at it as of yet, though the results on my cheeks and neck are better since stretching!

I was also thinking that I might get a slant for April... I hear that they are excellent for coarse beards! Would you guys recommend a PAA Bakelite or a Merkur 37c?

My shave today was inspired by @clint64, @PLAla (the CO Bigelow), and @mrchick (Skin Bracer). Thank you, gentlemen, for your assistance in selecting my shave software today.

This was my 3rd shave this month with the CJB. As a reminder, I am planning to shave every 2 or 3 days instead of every day while using this razor. Today I did a single, overall pass, and finished with some clean-up on the neck. My cheeks are nice and smooth, but my neck is not. Nevertheless, I always have trouble getting a smooth shave on the neck. I'm very impressed with this type of razor, but I'm also giving it a ton of respect. However, I've come to the conclusion it is easier to shave with a pain stick than it is keeping up with the shenanigans on this thread!

Skin stretching and riding the cap are what make it so you can use any razor. I would honestly recommend you not get a new razor until you can get a month's worth of awesome shaves from what you have. For skin stretching, I will rub wet fingers on my alum bar, then use them to stretch my skin away from the direction I am shaving. This was a game changer in my shaves. The alum lets you get a grip on soapy skin, which allows you to use less pressure and just let the edge cut. (I also keep the noise down, no music, fan, or running water. You can actually hear the sound of the blade cutting, and will recognize the sound of when the angle is right eventually.)
