I acquired a Lutz being slant curious. Just my own thoughts, but it's not a miracle razor. It shaves as well as several other 3pc DE's. Here in the 30 Day classroom the standard answer for new shavers is learn what you have, build correct technique, then experiment.

Watch for folks that use slants. Send them a PM. Discuss with them for particulars.

Did you go back to Californy for a grand baby fix? :)

Rick @RyX hit it on the head above. I got a PAA Bakelite slant in a shaving lot I bought. I used it and traded it out for a Merkur slant because it was too light. The guy I traded with thought the Merkur was too heavy. Regardless, neither one shaves as well as any of my Slims, superspeeds or modern DE’s. Personally, I think they are a bit of a novelty, not a tool that gives any sort of added performance. As always YMMV.

    March 5

    Parker SRX shavette
    Feather (1)
    Simpson Chubby 2 Super
    Castle Forbes Lavender shaving cream
Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, and unrefined shea butter

This was my first shave with the Parker SRX loaded with a Feather blade. It was a darn fine shave, except for two small landing errors. I had to be even more careful and focused, as the new Feather felt more apt to bite that my Russian blades. It will be interesting to see if it smooths out on the second shave.

No aftershave today, as I spent time with my sweet kiddos at the hospital. I shower after my shave, so even the residual Lavender scent is gone by the time I leave the house.

    Happy Monday!

    Smooth baby smooth
    Smooth baby smooth
    Smooth baby smooth
    Smooth baby smooth
To my surprise a month of shaves gone by
    Faces getting smooth y'all
    Getting down on the Veg
Folks are screaming out of control
    It was so entertaining
When the Williams started to explode
    I heard somebody say
Smooth baby smooth Shave Den inferno...

Great progress so far! I predict you'll eventually enjoy using the Slim, and close, comfortable shaves will be the norm!

John, I'm glad you tried your straight. It's a beauty. I'm sure you could easily sell if it you decide to do so. I also have a PRC straight razor that mostly sits unused. The blade edge maintenance is not something I enjoy doing, but I do enjoy using shavettes. Sometimes reality just doesn't meet expectations. Have a cookie!

Adam, your Ford truck brings back a lot of memories for me. And red is the only color! I love it. My Dad was a bricklayer. His Ford pick-ups were used for work through the week. We cleaned them up on the weekends and used them for short family trips. He traded trucks every couple of years because they saw hard use. He started with F-100s and eventually had F-250s. He had true works trucks...manual everything, heavy duty springs, nylon-belted work tires that thumped as they rotated until they warmed up, vinyl seats, AM radio, no a/c, and rubber floor mats. When I was 11, I could drive my Dad's F-250 4-speed with no problems. In high school, my Dad switched over to GMC and Chevy work vans. Life started to get easy....his vans had automatic transmissions...and steel belted radial tires...but still no a/c or FM radio. I took my driver's test in a 1976 GMC work van. I had to unload all my Dad's tools and clean it up for the test. It was a piece of cake to parallel park a big work van with no side windows...and still is. Did I say I loved your old rusty truck? :)

I too learned to drive in an F-150 4x4 . Single cab no bells and whistles, dual tanks 300-6 engine . Oh the memories. Sigh.

Thanks Clint. I'm having fun with the shavette. IMO, it's easier to use than the Feather A/C. If you don't mind taking the time, it will deliver a great shave.

I really enjoy my time at the hospital. I look forward to spending time each week with "my" amazing kids and their families. It is truly a lifeline for me in retirement. One of my recently retired friends shadowed me a few weeks ago, and he was immediately hooked. He and his wife will be volunteering at the hospital as a team. When my Bride heard that couples can volunteer together, she became interested. She shadowed me today, and now she's hooked. :) I've got two other good friends considering it as well. God is Good! :)

Sorry to hear the SR didn't work out. It is a beaut, though, and shouldn't be too hard to unload.
Cool looking colour on the razor, Jim. What is your opinion of the Irish Moos?
My first vehicle I bought new was a '94 F150 4x4. Great truck. Loved the manual hubs and 300 straight 6. Should never have gotten rid of it.
    Just beautiful, Mark.
Sounds like a great start to the week, Clint. The pic was a stunner as well.
Another great looking Hawk today! Sounds like a great start to the week, Perry.
Sorry to hear you have to be on the road again so soon, Brian. Hope your wife is feeling better.
I'll join the chorus and say great looking razor, Andrew!
Great job with the CJB, Dan!

Thank you, Jim! I think it helps that each time I'm about to pick it up to shave with I look it over with an equal balance of admiration and fear.... x + y = respect

Awesome, Jason! Great progress with the shavette, and I'm glad you and your family made it safely to Japan. I would love to visit Japan someday. It will be fun to hear more about your experiences living there.
