I’m getting the feel for this razor again. Today was a nice two pass shave, bordering on BBS.

Thanks men. I'm kinda digging the Wolfman. So much so I ordered another one yesterday. I really need to stay off his site. Hopefully, I will until he releases some in Copper.

By no means am I an expert, but I was in a similar situation.

I changed my goal from total hair removal to.... no discomfort.
Dropped back to 2 WTG, everyday. Then 3 WTG, then added from there.
In the beginning, shaves were not as good if you were to judge by smoothness. But, they just kept getting better, and still are.
When I hit the elusive "perfect bbs", I won't really care, cause I've been happy all along.
    All the best.

I'm envious of guys who can shave everyday and those that can get BBS. My skin just doesn't cooperate. My face will get BBS but my neck hair requires an ear to mid chest pass at a 45d angle. It's an awkward angle and it always cause irritation. So, I north-to-south then south-to-north it and let it ride. It's essentially 2 XTG passes but they are generally irritation free. I just don't usually try.

You guys are clearly confused. I'm the ice cream guy who led the cookie revolt. Charlie is the one with the fruitcake recipes and Adam is the one giving prizes for it's consumption. C'mon guys, keep up.

That's the same way the hair on the sides of my neck grows and I have been shaving the same way you are. My face can handle BBS but my neck can't.

Okay, first regarding lather: most lather problems are caused by (a) not enough product, (b) not enough water, or (c) both. You say you have a lot of product in your brush but your lather is light to nonexistent. When you are whipping in your bowl, try trickling more water into the mix gradually and see what that does. It's amazing how much water a good soap can hold in its lather without the lather breaking down.

And if the lather gets too runny for you when you add the water, just swirl the brush in the tub again and add a bit more product...

I think you said you were using Tabac? I don't use it myself but several guys here do. It's a good soap and by all accounts easy lathering but can hold a lot of water. Maybe someone who uses Tabac like Neal @NCoxSTL can chip in a bit of advice here.

Second, regarding the neck problems (sore, red and razor bumps), I personally think the culprit is your third pass, the ATG one. @Edison Carter and @LOOT have already spoken up here, and I would echo what they say -- focus on smooth and comfortable shaving rather than BBS. And you will notice both of them go lighter on the neck and generally avoid ATG. I am a bit different there -- I now do go ATG on the neck (but not the rest of my face) but that is the first and usually the ONLY pass I do there. I rarely try the standard three passes on my neck because that area simply can't handle that much shaving daily. When I try to do a full three pass shave on my neck, I invariably get redness in areas.

It also may indicate that you are still using too much pressure when you shave. Just let the weight of the razor do the work and don't press at all.
