I have to ask, what benefits does a cold water shave give over a warm?

Cold water makes your whiskers stand taller. You get less irritation. It is more refreshing. You use no hot water, so you don't have to wait for hot water. Cold water is available everywhere.

I hope you don't mind me butting in...
I find it refreshing in the summer but other than that, no change to skin, shave or lather.
    But, of course ymmv.

    Pre: Warm water face wash
    Brush: Vie-Long 14846 Badger/Horse
    Cream: TOBS Sandalwood
    Razor: ER 1914
    Blade: Gem SS
Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Vitamin E Oil, Pashana Original AS

Brilliant performance from the 1914, but it's what I've come to expect from it.
The Vie-Long brush is still improving with each shave and at the moment i've got nothing but good to say about it.
It's the first time I've used Pashana and hmmm, it's very old school, it reminds me of my childhood and I don't know why.
My father only ever wore Old Spice, so maybe an Uncle but at the moment the jury's out, maybe it's a grower.

Thanks. I've only shaved cold in a pinch back when I used cartridge with 20 face rippers on it. And definitely didn't enjoy it at all. Haven't ever tried it with my de

I was dubious until I tried it and did it all through last Summer and most of the Autumn.
I shave every day (SE or DE) so don't know what it's like on a few days growth.

Yesterday’s shave with the Ikon Tech was fabulous, so there wasn’t much today just a single pass and slight buffing on the chin and BBS was restored nicely. The Kai I believe has finally called it quits, but that was almost a dozen shaves. And the GD made sure it didn’t scar anything. Nice shave. Now, three fingers of Makers Mark Kentucky Bourbon and watch the snowflakes fall peacefully. Yeah, life is good. Have a great evening and great shaves Gents... :eatdrink047:

I'm quite interested in Bill Neumann&Co. products....thing is, they're pretty expensive. But maybe the soaps are worth it, as they are 8 oz.,right?

Yes the big jars are 8 ounces, they do have 4 oz sizes in tins. I find swirling 12-15 times on the top enough for my typical 2 pass shave with some left for touch ups if needed. A little does go a long way. Bought most of mine when they had their rare occasion sale on the website.

This shave took me back to 1988 and my Freshman year at Hudson Catholic High School. DRAKKAR NOIR!!

K-ShaveWorx Dark Power is a match, I love there soap. It is harder than most vegan artisans & above average post shave feel, I compare it to soap commander. Great artisan, cheap prices, free shipping. Also offers 2oz sizes on most soaps wich is awesome when u have way too many soaps. love it when smaller size is offered, that is good customer service.....
    Peace,
    Jamie
