Ok, now this is getting ridiculous- you've even matched the soap packaging perfectly to walls in your house. We are all not worthy.
Interesting take on the difference in scent between the soap and AS. My TFS from this morning is almost the opposite, the soap is 'fresher' and more natural than the AS...
Hope everything goes well with the blood work today, Jim!
    Wonderful picture, Mark.
Will follow along with your use of this soap with curiosity, Perry. I love the smell of SDM, but it is one of the few soaps that irritates my skin. Will look forward to seeing how this one does for you.
    Another beautiful razor.
Glad it worked out. That brush looks tiny in that bowl after seeing the massive Kent in it, John!

You're making good progress! Agree on swapping your blade out sooner. It is not helpful at this point if you're trying to learn technique while compensating for a dying blade edge. I was a "2 and out" guy when I first started learning mainly because blades are relatively cheap and I was trying to eliminate one variable.

If I may offer some humble advice, I'd put that Slim on 3 or 4 and leave it there until you can complete a full shave with no irritation. It's not as fun as running it wide open, but I think you'l progress faster that way. Stretch your skin, ride the cap, and just wipe the lather off your face with every stroke. As best you can, stick with WTG strokes on you lower neck until your technique improves. The shave will look good, but it will not be especially close. More importantly, you should see the redness and bumps eventually go away.

A Tabac shave stick is a really good soap. Use three times (yes, I said 3x) as much soap on your properly hydrated face next time you shave and keep working in water slowly with brush. Initially, your lather will be thick and pasty. Keep adding water until it is slick and shiny. If you overshoot that water, just add a little more soap. Don't be surprised if you need to add more water to your soap or re-lather a portion of your face as the shave proceeds. (Soap is cheap, so don't worry about making too much and having to rinse what's left down the drain. Most of us here have so much soap that we throw a party when we finish a container.) If you spend 5 minutes on the lathering portion of the shave, your skin will appreciate it, you'll have an explosion of lather, and your results will be better. If your lather continues to be thin, try making some practice lathers until you get the hang of it. You'll eventually get it figured out. :)

I love shaving every day when I'm using a DE. My shavette is telling me right now to shave every other day or so....still working on my technique with it.

Keep rolling and enjoy the learning process! You'll eventually be getting consistently close and comfortable shaves with little or no irriation. I'm glad you are here with us.

    A third multiquote in a row...just for Fuzzy @wchnu :scared003:
    Thank you, Gentlemen.
I don't know if I mentioned this or not, Charlie, but I do go to a Rotary meeting every Tuesday morning (unless work interferes) that starts at 6:45am. Every other day of the week, if I am off to a really early work meeting, it is because I have to drive out of town for it.

Thanks, Jason. It worked quite well this morning. Stirling Sharp Dressed Man has a strong alcohol tingle for me, but it doesn't irritate me. I think I remember Rod at Stirling saying that SDM was a tough one due to a particular ingredient that really has to be included to have the scent be genuine. The Irish Traveller soap was terrific this morning.

    March 8

    Parker SRX shavette
    Feather (1)
    Simpson Chubby 2 Super
    Castle Forbes Lavender shaving cream
Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Floid Vigoroso aftershave

I'm back to shaving every other day with the shavette. I tried another couple of daily shaves this week, and my skin had some minor irritation...nothing major, but it bugs me to look at it. Pretty good shave today with a brand new Feather blade, but I had one nick and one weeper that both sealed with the cold water splash. I'm still using the bottlomless tub of CF Lavender shave cream. It's been a really good shave cream, and I would buy it again.

We had a prospective buyer approach us on the sale of our house a few weeks ago (yes, this was a blessing), so we are showing it today. We're still a few months away from moving, but it would be terrific to have a buyer lined up at this point. My Bride and I have been straightening things up this morning in preparation. I cleared the sink top of all my shave gear except a shavette, brush, and scuttle. If nothing else, the visible shave gear may start an interesting conversation. :)

I hope you all have a fantastic day.

You can blame Maya for the photo setting. As soon as she saw the soap and aftershave, she knew the spot for the photo. I really like the Italian Citrus aftershave. I can still pick up a faint scent of it 5 hours later. Most citrus scents are dissipate very quickly.

It will be fun to see who Clint roots for now that he has ties to Georgia, Alabama, and possibly Kentucky. :)

Good luck with the home showing today Charlie. With Maya leaving for school in a few months, we will be empty nesters and looking to downsize.

Thank you for comprehensive assessment. I'm to take your advice and pitch the blade every two shaves, I will try just WTG on the bottom, there's just so many different directions, I will just have to experiment.

Thanks Clint. Best wishes on the upcoming transition to be empty nesters. I imagine this will be a bitter sweet time for you guys. Downsizing is a lot of work (we did a few years ago), but the end result is well worth it. We're in round 2 now, and we're still getting rid of stuff and organizing what's left.

Great news, Clint. I know you are excited for Maya. UK is a great school!

One of my close friends is a UK grad, and we're lined up to get together today for our monthly outing - movie and dinner at a local Indian restaurant.

Being a U of L grad, I have a blue ton of old and tired UK jokes. I'll save them for later and distribute them sparingly. ;)

With Asha going to Grad school and Maya in Undergrad, they are just out of the house but not off the payroll. :D We bought in our current area for the schools which carried an obscene amount of property taxes. Moving a few miles north would shave us thousands of dollars each year. Since my wife and I are both pack rats, I can't begin to imagine how much we will need to throw away.

Oh, Maya will get it from everybody in the family until basketball season.

I hope it's a good feeling, Paul, to see folks living in your mom's home. I hope they care for it like she would have. :)

Thanks Charlie...I plan to send them a "Welcome" letter or card. My sister says they are a wonderful couple. We'll see about the "good feeling".....Apparently, they aren't planning any major changes to the house. They love it as is. That would have pleased my Mom. But my first time over there(my sister says they might have us-or me alone-over for dinner sometime)will be an emotional one.
