Now here's a minor dilemma. I feel that this Polsilver blade is actually getting better with each shave. Today's shave was #6 and my custom (OK, habit) is to use a blade for 7 shaves and start with a fresh blade on Sunday. I'm very tempted to ride this one until I feel it no longer delivers. In fact, the last Polsilver I used, I got 10 shaves from and it still felt fine. (I switched from a Voskhod that was tugging during it's 4th shave and kept the Polsilver in from Thursday that week through the following Saturday.)

So, the dilemma is that I pre-plan the next week's Sunday thru Saturday shaves on Friday. Take pics of my set-ups and I'm good to go. (wife has booth duty at an antique shop on Fridays and would have me committed to a mental hospital if she caught me snapping pics of shaving stuff) Anyway I usually feature a tuck of the blade that I'll use for the week and for next week's shaves, the Nacet is on deck. I guess I'll have to pose both the Polsilver and Nacet with each soap, cream, brush AS combo I pick out. Or, I could just not feature a blade tuck at all.

I do believe I've needlessly added a level of complexity to my life that was avoidable had I not started down this path. :shocked029:

    Cream: Proraso Blue
    Brush: RazoRock Disruptor
    Bowl: Dollar Tree salsa
    Razor: RazoRock German 37 slant

    Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Curious what you thought of that particular Van Yulay soap? There was a different one you got previously that was a bit greasy. Is this soap better? I have the "Gentle Sauvage" soap scent and it works great for me (a bit light on the scent with a hint of coconut that seems to be part of the ingredients in the soap). I think Van Yulay goes with a "light scent" philosophy, but for the Sauvage scent that's the best way to play it.

    SOTD 03/06/2018 TUESDAY

RAZOR: Sabi 3-piece - chrome (3 inch handle, medium weight)- a mildly aggressive razor for me.
BLADE: Feather Hi Stainless Blade- this is the 11th shave on this blade.
BRUSH: Fendrihan Synthetic Brush - black "tuxedo" knot.
PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory Soap, followed by hot water rinse
PRESHAVE: Hot water wash with Ivory soap, followed bloom water from AOS Shave Cream
SHAVE CREAM: The Art of Shaving - Lavender Essential Oil - for Sensitive Skin - face lather
    POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse.
    AFTER SHAVE: AV Ice Blue
    BALM: None
    SOTD_03_06_2018.jpg
11 shaves on this Feather blade and still sharp and smooth. Typical 3-pass BBS for me. YUM!

    SOTD 03/07/2018 Wednesday
    RAZOR: Parker SR1
BLADE: Derby Professional blade - fresh blade after my "shavette mod"
BRUSH: Cremo/Vie-Long Horse Hair - 4th or 5th use from new
PREP: hot water shower with NOURISH Cool Cucumber Green Tea Moisturizing soap, hot water rinse
PRE SHAVE: Bloom water from VDH Shave Soap followed by a generous application of DEAD SEA COLLECTION Coconut Nourishing Body Oil
    BRUSH: VDH Deluxe Boar
MUG: Vintage Old Spice Shave Mug
SOAP: Van Der Hagen deluxe Shave soap- face lather
    POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse.
    AFTER SHAVE: Aqua Velva Musk
    SOTD_03_07_2018.jpg
NOTE: I modified my favorite Parker shavette, by filing some jimps into the blade holder - top & bottom. They are barely visible in this picture.
Using pre-shave oils always leaves my hands a bit slick. This mod allowed my grip on the shavette to be much more secure. WORKS GREAT!
Was only able to do a quick 1.5 pass shave this morning. Ran out of H2O on the second pass. No matter, I got the typical BBS on my cheeks and face.
The neck could have used a touchup pass, but DFS had to do. The Cremo brush performed superbly. I really like SMALL brushes.

RAZOR: Sabi 3-piece - chrome (3 inch handle, medium weight)- a mildly aggressive razor for me.
BLADE: Feather Hi Stainless Blade- this is the 12th shave on this blade.
    BRUSH: NONE
PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory Soap, followed by hot water rinse
PRE SHAVE: Generous application of DEAD SEA COLLECTION Lavender Nourishing Body Oil
SHAVE CREAM: Gillette Venus (with OLAY) VIOLET SWIRL shave gel - applied by hand.
POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse followed by application of CRYSTAL deodorant (deodorant stone - potassium alum)
AFTER SHAVE: PINAUD Clubman LILAC VEGETAL
    BALM: None
    SOTD_03_08_2018.jpg
Using the pre-shave oil with the Gillette Venus gel was interesting. The lather seemed much thicker than normal - almost like school paste.
The resulting shave was excellent! 2+pass BBS. Very smooth.

    Razor: RR Hawk
    Blade: Kai Titan Mild
    Preshave: Homemade
    Lather: Proraso Green
    Brush: VDH Badger
    AS: Aqua Velva/Afta

Another BBS, courtesy of Proraso, RR Hawk (from PickledNorthern) and Kai Mild. I`m getting the same kind of shave from this Hawk as I did from my Personna Floating Head except every once in a while , a tremor will pop up, like this morning ( a very small weeper). Two passes, WTG/ATG with clean ups between passes..... Voila! BBS or better, love wet shaving. God Bless each and all with as good mine.( mostly luck on my part).

Hoffritz Futur (c1985). After reading so many comparisons of the clone vs the original I'm hugely surprised how much more I enjoy this razor versus my QShave. I find it not as slippery and despite it being 30g heavier it feels better balanced with my grip always in the right place. The unit comprising the blade tray and stem has some unfortunate pitting in the chrome so I swapped it out in favor of the QShave one which fits perfectly.[IMG]

Well that week flew by and was rounded off nicely with this shave.
Blue's soap is a good budget product and the MMOC reminded me why it's my favourite of the Micromatics.
All beautifully capped off with a few splashes of Old Spice.
    Happy Shaving one and all.
