I love it, not aggressive at all, very efficient and second only to my iKon DLC slant and similar shave to my Rocket 500 and Timeless SB .95

That's great to hear. I have a Icon X3 slant as well as a Maggard Slant. Prefer the Icon but have been wanting to see how they compair to the bakelite.

For a short time I owned Merkur Bakelite and both 37 and 39 slants. This particular unmarked Bakelite was smoother and a little more efficient so eventually sold or traded them off.

On what should be the final day of searching for a new home I'm happy to say we appear to be set. We viewed two more today and applied, since both had no application fee. We also viewed one and thanked them for their time as it was way over priced. Our original approval is now a finalized deal minus the lease signing. They were able to accommodate a ground floor entrance to make my wife and her bad knees happy.

To celebrate a successful and quick search I went back to the Fatip and Feather. The Wolf and El Caballero for a high class lather and a BBS for the result.

My weekend is now in the books. Back for a six day run at work tomorrow. Hope your weekend is less stressful, but as productive as mine was!

Wow! That F looks like new. I have been keeping my eye open for such a fine example, but they don't come up too often. Nice.

My wife thought I was crazy when I started taking pictures in the bathroom! The thing is, she'd really have me committed if she knew the true cost of this hobby. Her eyes just roll when a new razor comes in the mail! The funny thing is she is the first enabler to help me look for razors if we go to an antique shop.

I don't have the Maggard, but I prefer the PAA bakelite OC slant over the iKon. The iKon is smooth, but I like the blade feel and feedback of the PAA. It really is a cool, high value razor to me. Just fun to use.

Yes, most of the best performing soaps leave residues of various kinds on my sink and on my razor. This is why I bought "days of the week" towels (also due to different scents everyday) so I could clean up the sink and wipe off the razor. Then in the evening, if the razor is a vintage, I will thoroughly clean it and dry it then put the blade back in for the next use. That prevents stains and soap residue buildup.

There are some soaps that clean up without much of any residue. The Gold-Dachs soap I'm using tomorrow is a very clean-rinsing soap. The Shave Den's vegetal soap also rinses pretty darn clean. And both perform well (but not as good as the heavily moisturized creams, which unfortunately, leave residues).

    Pre: Warm water face wash
    Brush: WDC-8 with 24mm 2BF
    Soap: MWF
Razor: DeHaven Synchro-Keen No.2 (Schick I1 on standby)
    Blade: Proprietary blade
Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Pashana AS

I really wanted to try this razor and the >70 year old blade looked in good nick, so with a few shakes on each side of the blade, I decided to go for it.
It's quite a mild shaver but that may be due to the blade having been wore down on the shake-sharp mechanism over the decades.
The twin bladed I1 didn't have much work to do on the second pass and the shave was nicely finished off with the very old school masculine scent of Pashana - it is a grower.
    Have a great weekend everyone.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #206 two-band badger brush. I did two passes with the Joseph Elliot Wedge Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I don't think I could have enjoyed this shave more - that's how wonderful it was. The Frosty Bay Rum soap lathered like a beast and its heavenly scent was ever present. The menthol effect takes a minute to start kicking in and then it feels great. Not nearly as intense as what a Glacial soap is, but it's still very much there. I had lots of good post-shave care from the Krampert's Bay Rum aftershave along with its delicious scent which I love and my wife...........dislikes. This Goodfella is really giving me excellent shaves since I figured out how to use it. Oh yes, three passes and mission accomplished - a fabulous BBS shave!

    Cheers!
