I've become quite enamoured by these little Ever Ready sets; I'd not seen a red one, before I bought this one. Has anyone seen them in other colours, apart from the standard brown/cream? I'm now the proud owner of two sets - one has the price tag !
Will you just look at that. Thanks for finding this. The white one is definitely white, rather than a cream colour. I think they must be really quite rare. Amazing. I wouldn't mind having red, white and blue.
http://theoriginalsafety2.com/thread/2108/ready-deluxe-1949?page=1 This is a very interesting thread, (thank you @TobyC) especially the first page which has some advertisements that I've not seen before. I wonder, what was the latest date that ever ready produced these sets? I'm guessing 1953, as my brown/cream combination deluxe set has a 6' (shilling) price tag. Rather than the 5'3d which is dated a little bit earlier (1951) I think. I seem to remember seeing an ER shaving brush with a black ferrule and a red base, I've also seen a blue base. I wonder if these were matching brushes?
If it's the one I've seen, the case might just be black rather than brown. I'm wondering, based on the above pictures, if they made a deluxe model in the common brown case.
