I'm not someone who adjusts mid shave but increasing is the only thing that makes logical sense to me . If after two passes because of angle or whatever some tricky stubble has escaped the blade it's a higher setting with more consistent exposure that's going to pick it up, not reducing exposure and narrowing effective angle . That's my theory anyway.

If it's a skin irritation issue then either sharper blade and/or higher setting on first passes would seem more appropriate so as to reduce the number of passes required. I see videos of guys buffing like crazy at low settings because of sensitive skin and I wonder what they're thinking.

    Sunday shave:

Time to bring out the big guns, a smiling 8/8 M. Martinez some AoS tallow soap combined with AoS cream and soft Shavemac silver tip set in a 30DC handle. This razor is becoming a favorite, the smile is just right, it takes and holds a sharp edge and a heavy grind that is pleasure to maneuver. Every seemed to be working as the should including the operator, 4 passes to an epic shave. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

    Razor: M Martinez smiling 8/8

Brush: Handle by Jason, Shavemac silver tip
    Pre: Proraso
Soap: AoS cream and tallow soap

Day 9 with the SC, 3rd with a Wizamet in it. Had a few hours this afternoon and turned a shave soap bowl. I’ve cut out 4 or 5 blanks to make some in various woods and/or styles. This was finished with wax as opposed to a urethane product as I wanted it foodsafe (an added bonus was that I could use it right away) I got a refill puck of Stirling Coniferous from Keith @Keithmax in a trade awhile ago and waited to make this bowl before unwrapping it. Pressed it in the bowl, and it was good to go.

Lathered up a typically good Stirling lather. At first I didn’t really notice a defined scent and then I realized why. I had just spent two hours in the lathe room, and this soap smells just like the fresh wood shavings I just produced. Seriously. This is pure woods and lovely.
Went with just a 2 pass shave as I have nothing planned tonight. Had a pleasant shave, save one cut below my chin from a rank rookie maneuver, am smooth enough and finished with the Barbershop.
    Have a great evening all!

The ATG is most likely to give me irritation, so I do 4 passes WTG, XTG, XTG(opposite direction) and the finally ATG. The first 3 passes are for beard reduction to make the ATG easier, so I can use a less aggressive setting on the ATG. My ATG pass includes ear to adam's apple. N to S on my chin and upper lip. Being able to use a lower setting helped me reduce and prevent irritation.

With a non adjustable aggressive razor you can do the same thing by just changing your angle. I also do this when straight shaving, I use a less aggressive angle on the ATG pass.

Beautiful gear and pic, Keith! One small point of clarification- that handle is technically not a 30DC handle. The top isn’t bulbed and the ‘transition’ doesn’t ‘fall away’ like the 30 DC LE handles do. The 30DC handle is also more rounded at that bottom. I happened to use my similar handle tonight as well.

I stand corrected. This brush has quickly worked it's to the top of my brush crew, I love the look, handle and knot.
