  1. Great picture Jared. The General is really a fantastic razor. I find it really comes alive with a Feather Super Pro blade.
  2. I found similar differences when I moved to Texas from California. I have to admit, I am a bit more motivated to participate in some of the charity fund raising out here.
  3. There were at least half a dozen guns. Some other nice ones were tempting.

Another relaxing shave this morning to start what I hope is another relaxing day. Inspired by @Norcalnewb I pulled out the WWB 30mm Tuxedo for a go this week. After several shampoos the chemical smell from the knot is gone and now I can simply enjoy the monster soap eater. Living up to its name the big WWB destroyed the last remnants of the Nuàvia Rossa. @Drygulch , Adam the Rossa makes 3 soaps done and dusted for the year. Sticking with a three pass shave this morning followed by touchups had the baby in reach. I decided to risk and additional pass on my lower right neck and caught the little guy. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
  6. Today I squared off two old school shaving sticks against each other; La Toja vs Colgate. I gotta be honest, I’m not much of an old school shave sick guy, so I’ve gotta rank these just below Arko. Both provided a more than adequate shave; just not my thing. YMMV.
I did, coincidentally, read a thread today discussing how well softer soaps perform as shave sticks, so I may make up a frankesoap from some extra Stirling soap I have on hand. I’ll be combining Pharaoh’s Dreamsicle and Orange Chill into “Pharaoh’s Chilly Orange Creamsicle”. We’ll see what happens.
  7. Other non soap related info from today’s shave:
    1. I bought 2 brushes from @celestino that I tried out head to head today. One with a Shavemac D01 knot, another with a chubby knot. Excellent brushes. Both are big and luxurious. The Shavemac has a bit of scritch, which is really my first brush like this. Time will tell If I go this direction or more in the “soft, cushy” synthetic direction.
    2. One of my first AS purchases was Stirling Barbershop. Initially I loved it, but now, not so much. Anybody ever had a scent they liked change to one they didn’t? (Point of clarification - the scent hasn’t changed, just my fondness for it.
  8. Great shave . I like that bowl .

  9. I use Stirling as a shave stick, probably a couple of times a week. It is actually very easy to put way too much soap on your face. From a strictly practical perspective, it is as good a lather as I’ve ever had.
  10. Hey, we live close enough now, I could drive over to visit, and we could play prairie shooters. Idaho has prairie dogs too.

  13. You can come. We can all meet in ND.

I spent several months a year in 03,04 and 05 out in western ND and eastern MT. When you live in a camper in the middle of nowhere, there isn’t much to fill your time with besides beer and shooting stuff up. The countryside hadn’t been shot up and crowded out too bad yet when I was out there, so we used to get into some pretty decent towns. I’ve heard it has gone down hill since.

I never got into anything quite as quick as this video, which was obviously edited, but it could have easily been a few of us in ‘04.

  14. Jason, great job on the bowl. It is a beauty!
  15. I love that handle, Clint.
  16. Gorgeous razor and brush combo, Keith!
  17. I like it a lot. My original intent was to sell my aluminum model, but I think might go into travel duty status.

  20. Yes, but they're harder targets than Minnesota prairie dogs. More 'taters to feed on there.
