    Excellent picture, Andrew!

I considered that one too, Andrew. The reason it wasn't included, it because it's more of a croap. Except for Tabac, the scents of the rest are similar (mostly), too.

From the get-go, I figured the showdown will be between Tabac and MWF. BUT - I'll give Williams a fair shake.

Wait, Tabac is in the running too ? Hmm that'll be a close one then. My money is still on MWF, for its subtle scent. I don't know if I would want to smell nothing but Tabac, if stranded on a desert island.

    Razor: NDC Post-War Gillette Tech
    Blade: Nacet Stainless (1)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Der Vergulde Hand
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

No shaves over the weekend, so today was three-days of growth to mow down. This is my second run with the Nacet. I already know that I like the feel of the blade; I just want to see if I can get a few more shaves than I did with the first one I used.

Not much to say, just a really great shave.

    Fair point Andrew!

Thankfully this is all hypothetical. I wouldn't want to only be limited to one soap. That's a big part of the enjoyment of this hobby. Now, if I did have to chose a deserted island soap, 99 chances out of 100, it would be Stirling. Probably Electric Sheep. Then it could pull double duty as an insect repellent. ;)

Actually we have to settle for ground squirrels here. No prairie dogs.

As I understand a NB commitment you can replace an existing consumable. There's no Den Inflation when you toss an empty.

I like his methodology. A Focus using same everything but the soap. Speaks well for Williams. Still some folks prefer a Rolls. I'm a Ford guy, myself.

Shouldn't/ Wouldn't / Won't link to an active auction, but if anyone's been looking for a 1st quarter '57 (C-1) Red Tip check the bay for
    "Stubby Purple Knob" :happy068::rofl:
I've already got one. The razor that is. Not my auction so no shilling going on.

I read the comments at the end of the article. Seems some guys are quick to bash Mark over this experiment. . Myself ..if it lathers and lubes the blade ..perfect . I see alot of ads online for people selling 20-30 $40-$60 tubs of soap either unused or used a couple of times . I wish I had that kind of money to burn . Back in my father's day I think there was only 2 kinds available. I think Mark hit it bang on with one word... marketing. That's my rant .

Okay today I had a great shave somewhere between DFS and BBS with the shavette today. No nicks, no cuts, and a pretty quiet alum block this morning. If I can hold this level for the week I would say I have it nailed down.

I read some of the same comments, and honestly I would have to say strictly speaking as an experiment, it wasn't terribly well performed. Not being a blind comparison and coming in trying to prove a point will often lead you in one direction or another. He lost a little credibility with me when he tried to tell me that the scent of MdC and Williams doesn't come into play as both scents fade quickly. This just doesn't really hold up, IMO, as I own both soaps, and both still smell strongly, with the MdC a more pleasant scent. This seems a little preconceived to me.

Don't take me wrong, I am not saying that Williams isn't a good soap, I am just saying that his direct comparison does have a few holes, IMO.
