Yup. Scent matters, or we’d all have one or two soaps and a bottle of witch hazel. Shaving is pedestrian for many, many folks and that is fine. Said people haven’t congregated on these threads, however.

 

So Dan @sdguero sent me some Scalp Master soap to try. You think it's bad to get a fruitcake in the mail....sheesh. I got a shave out of it but that is the best I can say. I will however get it worked out I am sure. I posted a small review and video link across the street. Bottom linebI got better lathers out of Marvys to start with.

Scent was not a big issue in the review. On another note I am going to make some rose scent Williams before long. Should be great!!!

 

Anyone ever add the Veg to an unscented soap that you know of ?

 

At the risk of starting another Williams type scenario I have only this to ask......what does Marvy have to do with lather? And yes, in the spirit of fairness I still have most of a puck. After I get moved I'll get it out and try it again. In spite of bad memories.

Good question. I can get it to lather ok actually. Takes a bit of work though I will admit. I find it to be what a lot of people think Williams is. Lol

 

Iam sure I have put a few drops of the veg on top of a williams cake before I lathered. Zeus gets jealous of that though.

March 12

Well that's enough of that. Same setup as last night and same disappointing result. The lather was great so thank you Stirling, but the shave was a fail. I can't believe the Fatboy and Bic are giving me fits.

I made sure of no pressure and still got a rough shave including a cut near my right ear on the XTG pass. My notes on the Bic are all positive but this one is eating me alive. The cut, barely DFS result and hot alum all combine for a fail. I suppose I may have a dud on my hands but I'll wait until after the move to sort it out. Back to Russian steel tomorrow.

I agree that scent is nice but if the soap doesn't perform well then the scent is mute to me. Don't we all cover it after the shave with a scent anyway? Or did you mean the aftershave scent matters?
