    March Madness!!!

March 15 - Celebrating a working laptop again!

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (6)
    Blade - astra-superior-platinum.jpg (3)
Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

After two weeks of working only on my phone and tablet I finally got my backup laptop running. Needed a new power cord, which arrived today, and the past couple of hours have been spent on updates (a continuing process) and getting everything talking again. It's nice to not have to use Tapatalk to post with, even though I have to say I found it easier to do as I went along. Keeping up with the thread was more difficult that way as the screens were smaller, but it's definitely workable. Nice to be back in "real computer world" though.

Third shave on the Astra SP with the Fatboy on 6. Another very fine shave with the Jeeves and Semogue. Very nearly a BBS but I don't want to be quite that generous tonight.

We're at two weeks and counting for the move. If I'm boring you with all of that just tell me. I'll shut up for five minutes. Tomorrow is a day of running around for some things we need then packing some more and the usual day off routine. I may stick with the Astra for another shave or switch off again. That's a decision for tomorrow evening.

    Enjoy your Friday!!

It sounds like things are coming together for you with The Move. Glad to hear it, and I, for one, do not find the updates boring at all.

Thanks, Chris. Not buying any razors this year unless I swing a trade, but I wanted to be able to find out a little more about this one...

MARCH ; at a loss for a quip

    Palmolive Classic Stick
    Semogue boar brush
    Suribachi bowl, cool water
    Fatip Piccolo OC 3pc
    Proraso Green Lotion
SOTD 03152018.gif No particular rhyme or reason for this evenings gear selection. Green seemed to become a theme as I pick out soap, brush, & AS. I'm not a face latherer so I rubbed the stick in the bowl and worked it there. Ought to grate the stick into a suitable container but who ever finishes tub of soap? OK, some of y'all did and do but I don't stay on one product long enough to make that kind of progress. Fatips have a reputation but it's a pussy cat if you ride the cap. Don't recall what blade is loaded but it was still in the comfort zone so I went with it. Three passes, but I switched up directions. Instead of first doing a full N to S, I employed a S to N on my neck as it's closer to WTG. Then I reversed for AGT, and followed up with my usual ear to nose XTG and G-Slides below the jaw line. No serious burn from the AS but I didn't do much fiddling clean up passes. Give it a day to see how it feels and if I learned anything.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Another DFS, whipped up a really nice lather with the Tabac. Then proceeded with a 3 pass plus touch ups shave. The alum gave nothing more than whimper, followed by my favorite aftershave. This is probably the best 24 hour growth shave I have had to date. Have a nice morning everyone.

This week has really gone by very quickly. I can also say the house is almost too quite with my wife and daughter gone to UK for the weekend. Another great shave this morning. The Fine Italian Citrus soap smells good once I start lathering. I wish it didn't have that synthetic scent as soon as I open the tub. Sticking with a normal 3 pass shave followed by touch ups along my jawline ended in my normal near perfect shave. Unless I buff that one spot on my lower right neck I just can't get a perfect BBS shave. A splash of the matching Italian Citrus aftershave and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Pretty nice shave with a couple of new den additions. I saw this shavette and thought I would give it a try. It uses half blades, but the design covers the corners so that you are less likely to get caught by one.

A one pass CCS, so it works well. This soap and AS is also new, and the scent it terrific. A very nice fougere. The soap performance is also pretty good. All in all a great shave this morning. I hope everyone has a great day!

Well, I decided I'll hang on to the WSP Pure Badger a little while longer. It just looks so odd more often than not as I load soap onto it. Kinda like an inside-out umbrella. And it's harder to "fluff out" post-shave, so as it would look like any unused brush would. Odd-looking or not, the thing produced a good enough amount of soap to have a nice 2-passer.

Paul, aside from the WSP Pure Badger, what other brushes do you have? Just wondering which one you like the best and why. I hope you continue to heal and feel better. Have a great day, my friend.

No time to post yesterday and have had a couple very long days. I’ve continued to break up my focus a bit by going with my newly returned MonoBilt for a few more days. 3 pass shave yesterday, which was a near perfect shave. Some tingle from the Alum on my neck confirmed the efficiency of this razor.
As a nod to Spring needing to show its face soon, I pulled out the G&T today. Face-lathered a great smelling, thick, slick batch. Went with a 2 pass shave this morning and I’d still call this a DFS. Still a little neck tingle from the Alum, but not uncomfortably so.
    Have a great day all!
