Guess I'm staying up for a little bit again.

I've never used an open comb old style. If he wants to send it back to you, would it be all right if he sent it straight to me so I can give it a run as well?

 

Sure, no problem at all. If you have ever wanted to try an open comb I have one I would let you try. They are good shavers, probably my favorite behind the slant.

Heck if you like it you can have it.

 

I actually wouldn't mind giving an open comb a run. What blade do you use in them?

I assume you're talking about the open comb? I'd gladly pay you for anything if I like it.

 

If you like it consider it a PIF or a Christmas present. I have a 26 Bostonian that I will never sell mainly because it has a cool case and it shaves pretty damn good.

I usually use Dorco 301's not the 300's in them. I have also used Derby's, Astra's and Swedes in it. Feather not so much, didn't pair well.

Nope. Not yet. I've been waiting for the store here to have all the blades I want to try in stock at the same time. I was going to place an order for a number of the blades and some of JoAnna's aftershave splashes. I think I may contact her and have her hold onto some packs of blades for me so that I can get all the blades in one shipment. I've got some Astras on the way. I appreciate the offer on the Gillette. I'll PM you my info. As for the slant - let me know when Shep is done with it. If he's keeping it, let me know as well - I'll try to convince him to lend it to me.

Have you ever tried any of the Salter's creams?

 

I will send you a pack of the Dorco 301's with the razor. I don't have any Astra's left or I would send those too. I assume you have tried Derby's?

I haven't tried the salters yet, but I would like to.

I've raved over and over to Shep how much I like the stuff. It's as good as TOBS in my opinion.

I caught that you said you were going to try some of TSD A/S. Were you talking balms? If so I have 4 samples of the wesley & scott which is made by shaving essentials that you could try. I don't think I need 4 of them and they send them in nice plastic 1 oz containers.

I've not tried St. James. You weren't a fan of the avocado, were you? I've also got a sample of Mr. Taylor that I'm not going to use (it's too powdery) if you'd like it.

I was going to try the aftershave splashes, but if you're itching to get rid of one of those balms, I wouldn't mind trying one.

Since I'm sending you a package already, I'll toss in some rose witch hazel to hold you over until 'Santa' fills your stocking.

I will send a sample of the St. James and a bottle of the W&S balm. I think I only have lime with menthol. It doesn't really smell like lime but the stuff works unbelievable good, IMO.

Shep sent me the Rose, good, good stuff. I think that is what the wife bought me because I wouldn't stop talking about it. I will use it if you send it.

Have you used the lavender TOBS? I got a sample of it today with my razors and some say it is irritating so I don't know what to expect.

Haven't used the lavender. I've got tough skin and no shaving product has caused me irritation yet. I've never had a problem using lavender. Do you have sensitivities? Even if you do, my advice would be to go ahead and test it out with a one pass shave. Tomorrow is the weekend, so if you get any irritation, it'll be gone by Monday.

 

Good thinking I should try it out tomorrow, but I really want to try the St. James. I will sleep on it. BTW the only thing I have had a reaction to is SCS Smoke and beads. Got some redness around the ghoatee area between my lip and chin on the rh side.

Good morning to all! Dominic ...good luck with open comb. Very generous of Tracy and you will enjoy the 301's. I was skeptical after the horrible experience with the 300's. BTW...your samples are going out TODAY! I know...I know.....been busy as hell lately. I have pondering and staring at my shave den and realized that i have all these....almost empty tubes and tubs of SC. So.....I am going to attempt which it is going to be hard......to empty some out. It might take a few weeks but I would like to say I emptied something. I have TOBS Eton College, T&H Tralfagar, Palmolive Indian, Nancy Boy signature, and some Wars that are all close to the end. Dont know if I can stick to it but will sure try. Seeing Neale empty tub of Avocado got me to thinking. Also.....I cant order another TOBS until the Eton College is gone(St. James....here I come!)

 

Darn, I wish I would have known that when I placed my order. I could have used some to send some samples of the cream and soaps I bought from ya. Now I have to go down and explain to the pharmacist what I plan on doing with 4 empty RX bottles. They never understand

Tracy, if there is a The Body Shop near you, go there and ask them for some sample jars. They usually will give you a few of them. Of course, sometimes they insist that they fill them with stuff too. In that case, get a sample of every body butter in the store!!

Okay, that was long. I used the same Astra superior all week with good results. This morning was the last of them though. SO, three GREAT shaves, and two good shaves (total of five) out of a 20 cent blade. Not bad...........

Around noon today my son is dropping off the kids for the night. This will be my first time watching my grandkids since I got on the wagon, which means ever!! What are some good activities I can set up for us to do? I know how to make Playdoe out of flour and food coloring. Do kids still do that kind of stuff?
