And if you're in Seoul, Republic of Korea, basking in that Olympic afterglow, thinking about having take out spicy King Pao Chicken delivered to the crib...it must Saturday Night.

    Carry on.

Had a DFS Thursday night. WTG, XTG followed by some buffing on th e jawline/neck area. It left me with very little (if any) irritation and no new red spots. Last night I washed my face and neck with Dove soap in the shower (just to see what would happen)... I have woken up with quite a few red spots and an irritated feeling neck... Weird since I didn't even have a shave!

I'll do my best but I don't have a trained sniffer. I do know what I like and don't like and after sniffing the soaps they are all nice scents. The most subtle being Mountain Man. Piacenza and Satsuma being the boldest and very similar to one another, think Sweet Tarts. :) As far as scent strength Port AU is up there too. I'm looking forward to trying them all!
    Have a good day everyone!

After further review, I find that my question was answered in your original comment. We have a catch. :)

A wonderful relaxing shave this morning to start the day. The WDC brush whipped up the MW Vetiver & Oakmoss easily. The trick with MW soaps is to add water slowly while you load the brush. It helps if you really overload the soap as well. The vetiver scent is first and foremost in the soap with the oakmoss rounding everything out. I really like the scent of the soap and the post shave feel of MW is top notch. Three passes, ATG, XTG and ATG followed by a little buffing on my neck ended in a very nice BBS shave. I did get one weeper due to operator error. A splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Pass 1 - like I know what I’m doing. Pass 2 - Awkward but getting better. First attempt at pass 3 - full on Ricky Retardo. I think 99% of the shave occurs on the DE pass afterwards. No injuries combined with limited whisker reduction also makes me wonder if somewhere early on I rolled the blade when learning to strop. Once I get off the road and get home I’ll test this theory with a professionally honed unused blade. Until then “Lucy I’m Home!”

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM G-Bar
    Brush: JR #41 badger
    Soap: Stirling Sandpiper
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Sandpiper aftershave

Wow! Incredible shave. Really love Stirling and the Sandpiper scent is quite nice. Smooth and comfortable all around!

I'll be traveling to Mobile, Alabama today for Spring Break. We'll be hanging with the in-laws and perhaps taking some day trips or one-night trips out of there. Looking forward to a change of perspective and some rest and relaxation. Have a great weekend!

Thank you. The morning was the calm before the storm today. My youngest daughter has her Senior Prom tonight so I am sure there will be drama before the day is over. :D

Saturday March 24 - more obsolete samples

    Gillette Fatboy on 4 / Gillette 7 O'clock (3)
    JR #267 boar brush
    The Dry Dock shave bowl
    B+M Latha Oceana
    Florida Water

The next sample of already discontinued soap in my stack was Latha Oceana. The shave performance was decent as usual for the Latha soaps but the scent was a sort of ozone or seaweedy smell that I found thoroughly underwhelming. I only did one pass with it to obtain a decent CCS. The Florida Water pepped up an otherwise rather "meh" experience.

I promised myself I would finish all my samples so I will use the remaining chunk tomorrow anyway. Maybe I will splash some Florida Water or Clubman VIBR into the bowl with the sample to ginger it up a little bit...

Edit: I just took the remaining soap from the Latha Oceana sample tub, spread it around in my shave bowl, and dowsed it with Clubman VIBR. It can marinate for 24 hours in preparation for tomorrow's shave...

    Today's report on yesterdays shave,
    Dead Cellphone Battery Edition.

Palmolive Stick stuffed in a tub.
    JR #130 Cypress & Synth
    Suribachi bowl, cool water
Fat Boy E-4 on number nine
Astra SP blade of uncounted uses
Lucky Tiger Skin Care AS Lotion
SOTD 03232018 Astra SP.gif Got my shave in for a Fat Boy Friday, but the phone ran down before I could move the pixels to the Command Center Laptop to post. Having a handful of Stirling soaps to try I took a side trip to Palmoliveville. I had already cut up and mashed the stick into a recently vacated container. Wanted to see that it would load as well as Arko in a matching tub - it does. Great post shave feel from this soap, lathers easily, and the scent although somewhat indescribable is pleasant. Had a blade in the Gillette 195 so I went with it. Should have popped in a new one since I'm feeling a little irritation half a day later. Think I'll use up all my currently loaded blades and try moving one blade around until it's done. That could develop into the Focus I never found this month. A shot of the slightly skunky, tire fire scented post shave liquid makes me question why I haven't poured it down the drain. It's not listed on the LT website so I'm guessing it didn't sell well. There's a limited market for software products that are only purchased once. I picked it from the only Barber Supply shop nearby. A pity buy, since I don't visit him often and hope he stays in business even if the stock on his shelves is slightly rank old stock.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I didn’t really like the scent of the original Latha. The soap worked well enough but didn’t measure up compared to other soaps.
