A mid day shave for me as we loaded the kids and dog up for a nice nature trail walk in the Bug Thicket National Preserve. Other than almost having a child or two carried off by the mosquitoes, we had a great time. A nice shower and some Veg to help get rid of the insect repellent, and I am ready for a relaxing afternoon. I hope everyone has a great day!

Great picture Jim. Sounds like a very good day with the kids. I absolutely hate mosquitoes. They my tail up in Ft Stewart.

The mosquitoes in this part of the country can be pretty bad, but these seemed to be about the size of hummingbirds.

 

Minnesota wouldn’t be the place for you then. I remember when I was a kid, sometime in the early eighties (10-12), my grampa bought us one of those blue light, electric fence, bug zapper gizmos.



The mosquitos would be so thick at times, you couldn’t leave that thing plugged in for the time it would take to grill burgers, and it would be literally plugged up on the element. Not kidding. You would have to unplug it, and hose it down. It never helped a bit with skeeters, but we got a lot of free redneck light shows.

When you grow up in MNs version of Woolley Swamp, I guess you just get used to it.

 

I have to say, if you are actually willing to venture into “Bug Thicket National Reserve”, I’m not sure whether or not I feel sorry for you if you get bitten up.

 

If anyone has silly money laying around and wants in on a auction, send me a PM. Left & right may be common but the middle cased razor caught my eye.
I was first bidder, but they've long since left me behind. Still 4 days on the count down timer.

 

Well, how about a typo/Freudian slip? It is actually Big Thicket, but the mosquitoes were on my mind, so Bug Thicket was fitting for this morning.

 

We have a Mosquito Creek nearby, and my friend owns a resort/campground named, “Mosquito Creek Campground”. More than once, I have suggested that a name change might bring him some additional business.

 

I probably just fell for a nice marketing trick, but I ordered a PAA Outdoorsman's Friend bundle today. If it actually manages to keep half the mosquitoes away, I'll be happy. It does pair nicely with Williams (@wchnu) he says, so it should also go nicely with Electric Sheep.

 

Let us know how it works. I got that email also. I was tempted.
