  1. I didn’t think of that. I guess how he gripped or didn’t grip the handle does affect the shave feel.

  2. I'm sure we'll find out after he posts about his next shave or two. It just goes to show that there's a lot more about the shave than just the blade.
  3. :happy096: Very cool! It's great when things work!
  4. I really enjoy mild razors. I have a medium beard and sensitive skin so milder razors just seem to work best for me. My milder razors which are a mix of old and new are:
    1. Post war Gillette Tech recoated by North Shore Razors.
    2. 1967 Gillette Slim that I generally use on setting 4.
    3. Rockwell 6C which I generally use with base plate #3.
    4. Above The Tie (S1) closed comb slant which is mild for a slant.
    5. Colonial General Aluminum SE.

  6. I'm still formulating my ideas. Today I used the same model head (cept it was silver, and from the fifties. Not near as good a shave. Go figure, soon as you get a handle on what works,,,,, coulda been the blade, now I've got to start over. So many techs so little facts.

  7. I have, to the best of my recollection;
    Bakelite travel tech
    Pre-war fat handle tech
    Gold fat handle tech

    Short handle travel tech embossed Gillette on top cap(t4)

  11. I recently picked up a Gillette fat handle tech. It’s a 1932 patent and was made in Canada. It’s most definitely a mild shaver.

    I used it for the first time today and got a great two pass shave. I had a Gillette 7 O’Clock Black blade (on its 5th use) and paired it up with some TOBS.

    It’s a very smooth and easy razor to use. The weight and grip seem right and it’s simple enough to get the angle right. I think this razor will be at the top of my rotation now.

  16. Well, the established sellers want $20+. And the ones for auction lately have gone for more, for their condition, than I wanna pay. I know if I wait and catch an auction that ends at midnight on a Tuesday, I can get one for $10-11 bucks shipped.
  17. That's what you should pay.
