    My guess:

Ride the cap more than ever. Your angle of attack with the blade was too high, and it scraped you badly. Irritation in shaving is the same as exfoliating your face until hurts. Razors are great exfoliation tools. ;)

Evgeny has now been exposed. You'll have to use him for open PR work, his face is searchable now.

I have a Rockwell 6s which I use on plate #3 all the time. I have been using it this week actually. I find that roughly equivalent to 3 or 4 on the dial of a Gillette adjustable.

I would agree with Chris about watching the riding the cap (plus the skin stretching...)but would add three other things to check:

    1. Bad blade? Could be possible...
    2. Was the handle fully tightened down? If not, you have a more aggressive razor on your hands...
    3. This razor is almost certainly much heavier than whatever you used before. NO pressure is an absolute must.

Sorry about the rough shave but congratulations on the new razor! A lot of excellent advice so far. I'm sure you'll have it dialed in in no time.

Great photo John! I've mentioned it before, but that bowl makes the BK12 look like a "normal" brush. They go well together.

You are a wise man, Dan. There is no shame on sitting the pain stick aside for awhile - or even permanently, if you would choose. I'm sure you'll revisit it sometime down the road, but if you decide it's not for you, so be it. This hobby of ours is meant to be enjoyable - and, if you aren't able to enjoy a particular piece of gear, there's not much point continuing on with it. I certainly give you props for giving it a whirl in the first place! You're a braver man than me.

Very nice photo with your write up as well!

It is not over yet, but please allow me to be the first to congrate Master @Bama Samurai and his band of Mighty March Madness Men who undertook the challenge of March Madness. May those experiences and skills serve you well. I have greatly enjoyed reading about your trip. Should I decide to venture into shavettes, I am better prepared. I salute, and thank you.

Thanks for the update, and for the photos, Adam! It appears that the "mud room" is coming along nicely! Yeah, yeah...I'll even boo myself at that one. Glad to see that some progress is being made, though.
At least you got to spend some time enjoying yourself in DC...there's a lot to do and see there. I wouldn't want to live there, but it's fun to visit...except for the traffic. I don't miss traveling for a living. But, if I had to do it all over again, I'd do my best to see the sights more than what I did back then.

Happy Friday. A great shave this morning to end the work week. It has been a hectic but productive week. The BSB-2 whipped up the Italian Citrus easily into a rich slick lather. Since I have been using the soap more frequently, I have come to actually like the scent of the soap. Three passes and touch ups ended with me just missing the baby. I always liked the scent of the aftershave and can say that it is on my rebuy list. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

I’d agree. I really like Taiga. I also like the scent of Lavenda better than the B&M Reserve Lavender. And, while we are at it, I will really miss Oceana. I considered getting a backup puck, but with the amount of soap I have on hand, that’d just be ridiculous.

Thanks for the advice. I will try the blade in razor I know to eliminate a bad blade. The razor did feel way heavier than anything I've ever used, and this morning I was thinking maybe I pushed to hard, got a little to steep when shaving. Just going to keep working on it.
