For Adjustable April, I'm going to focus on figuring out my new Rockwell 6c. I'm going to run a bunch of different blades through it and vary the plates a bit. Probably stick with one soap a week.

    Without further ado,

    Rockwell 6c 3
    Vokshod (1)
    Yaqi Slivertip
    Striling Dunshire
    Witchhazel
    Speick AS Splash

Prefect, BBS shave. I started with the Vokshod with the 3 plate. If I can't get a razor to work with a Vokshod, I probably can't get that razor to work with any blade. It took 4 passes, was incredibly smooth, not even a whimper out of the Aftershave. Will try the Vokshod on plate 4 next shave. Happy Easter everyone.

Yep, ran a Vokshod through it today and it was heavenly. Love the look of your timeless. How does it shave?

Sounds like a great shave! I find the Timeless bronze to be nice and smooth. Very little blade feel yet very efficient.

I prefer bowl lathers so like my stick of Arko, I put the Palmolive in a tub. Cut it up in pieces and mashed it to fit. If going for longevity rubbing the stick directly into your beard would be more economical. I want an excess of luxurious lather.

Thank you Gentlemen. It was a great day with the family. But all the prep and drive time make it an exhausting day.

Great job. It seems that everyone trying a Rockwell razor likes them.

An afternoon shave was in order after 3 days of prickly scruff, and the Stirling “Pharaoh’s Chilly Orange Dreamsicle” stick did the trick. I’m considering adding some extra Glacial MITA to the current mix of Orange Chill and Pharaoh’s Dreamsicle to make Pharaoh’s Orange Margarita, or maybe some Coconut Lime to create Pharaoh’s Tropical Frozen Cocktail. I’m just hesitant since this stuff smells unbelievably good as it is, and I hate to screw it up. Decisions, decisions.

I had the same question. I thought I hated Bay Rum until I got the Jeeves from Adam. First one I’ve really enjoyed due to the lack of overwhelming bay leaf (many call “clove”) scent. Wondering how B&M treats the scent.

Given the price difference between EO of Bay and Cloves, clove is added to many bay rum soaps.

Do clove and bay smell the same? Is the bay we are talking about the same as the bay leaves in my kitchen? Because some of the bay rums list both, and I’m not sure which it is that I tend to dislike.

No it's not the same as Bay Laurel. The West Indian Bay Leave or Pimenta Rocemosa is used in Bay Rum soap which has a similar scent profile to cloves. Recent storms destroyed many of the West Indian Bay Trees so top quality EO is getting harder to obtain. Will from B&M was commenting on another forum about the issue.

Speaking of which... I ended up starting the month on a bit of a misfire.

I have recently come into a few blades from brands I'd never tried before, so I decided of making the April FoolISH move of trying one today- the Curley brand blades which came with my Baili. I loaded one into a "safe" razor, a post-War Tech, and got to it. In short, it was tuggy from the first stroke with questionable reduction. I abandoned it about 2/3rds of the way through the first pass in favor of my Flat Bottom Tech was was loaded with a previously-used German Wilkie. The FB brought home the baby for a great save.

As you've probably all surmised, the Curley is a Chinese-made blade although the packaging mentions something about a Spanish company. It is one of those Chinese blades which is neither fish nor fowl in that it is not comfortable and usable or utterly useless. I still have 24, so I'll either bin them or pass them on to some connoisseur of Chinese precision steel. :)

Are "connoisseur" and "Chinese precision steel" not contradictions in terms? :)
