    Arko Adjustable April!!

    April 3

    Razor - Soviet Consul (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

The Arko shined today. Really thick and slick with help from the JR46 brush. It's days like this when I survey all the soaps on my counter and wonder why I have any other than Arko. Well, because it's fun, that's why. DUH!!!

The Consul and Sharp Star brought the baby tonight with just a hint of fire from the alum. I was a little heavy handed on the touch ups, mostly because I was focusing more on how good the lather was. No blood or injuries to report so it's all good. I'll switch razor and blade tomorrow and keep right on going!

The new HQ is taking shape very nicely. We actually had the kitchen in order so that we cooked dinner tonight instead of just heating up stuff we had prepared for the move or eating out. My desk is still not in order but it's getting there. Thursday and Friday will take care of that when I have some time off. Other than that it's a typical Spring in STL at the moment. High today was 70 with sunshine. A front pushed through, winds of 40-45 with higher gusts from the Northwest and we're going for a low of 27 tonight. All we need is a tornado and we'll have the entire cycle in a day!

    APRIL Adjustable Tabac Tuesday

    Tabac Original Shave Soap
    B-400 / Omega 98 boar
    Suribachi bowl & cool water
    Ming Shi 2000S on #4-1/2
    Kai Stainless Steel (2nd use)
    Pinaud Special Reserve AS
SOTD 04032018 Kai 2nd.gif Arko...Stirling...Tabac! Too many folks talking about it and it's Tuesday. I'm in no danger of seeing the bottom of the soap during the Twenty Teens. Like Keith @Keithmax I like it for the lather and the scent's quite substantial. But it's just one in my cabinet. Less Flibberdigibbet, more Stirling - FOCUS next shave. With temps in the mid seventies and the sunshine I continued using cool water for comfortable lathers. Lamenting the breaking in of my newest boar knot I stirred up 1-1/4 shaves worth of luxury in the ceramic bowl. Moved the Kai blade to the Futur clone and had a close comfortable and error free beard reduction. I've been paying attention to under my jaw line and trying to get that last bit of stubble without irritation. Gillette Slides seem to catch it best but it's a work in progress. No nicks & acceptable bordering on close comfortable with no razor burn is a victory. A double splash of manly leather AS/cologne defying @Paul Turner and the seasonal scent rules. ;)
    Good Shaves Y'all!

SDM is a classic scented, good performing soap, that’s for sure. Enjoy.
Glad to hear the Nacet worked well for you, it is one of my faves.
The NEW is an awesome shaver (and great looking too, imho), glad you’ve discovered it, Dan.
It took a lot of photo effects to make that Arko look that fancy... glad to hear that you are getting settled in, Neal.

You mean your Arko sticks don't send out sunshine rays when you unwrap them?!

Thanks, Jason. Have to give my lovely Bride the credit for finding it and having the foresight to get it for me. I give you the credit for inspiring me to use it these last couple of days.

What sort of sunglasses do you wear when using that Arko?

All, I enjoyed your photos and shave descriptions for the day. Good stuff and worthy of more than one cookie for each. But I’m exhausted. Gotta sleep. Good night!

Probably Arko knock-off sticks. Made in China. Next to the same factory that produces Flying Eagles.

Happy cows are relaxed and stress free - which produces more tender steaks. They're doing it right there in the Commonwealth.

That's the view off the porch. And yes, those are Angus cattle, but they've been spared. They are the breeding and research stock at Murray State. Their service ensures a never-ending supply of quality steaks.

Stirling soap is a candidate for the controlled-substance list at the DEA. Highly addictive. I had the same idea. Try samples, buy one or two tubs. I think the current tub count is 5. With more on the wish list. Hard to beat the scents as well as the quality of the soap. Good stuff!

Since I began wet shaving a year ago I have always shaved with Merkur razors. I didn’t even think razors made much of a difference until I read it on TSD. So in an attempt to uncover the differences in blades I will keep all else constant:

    Proraso PreShave
    Proraso Green Shave Soap (Croap)
    Merkur 34c DE Razor
    Proraso Aftershave.

I will conduct 3 shaves per blade and will use the same technique I have been using. I think I’ll create a spreadsheet to rate the sharpness, smoothness, and overall feel. And then since I don’t currently know the difference, I will rate a Merkur blade last. So after 48 shaves I will have an answer.

Yes I am looking forward to it. For those “bad blades” that stick out right away I may toss after shave #1, but we’ll see.
