A friend from Cambodia, Kak Channthy, vocalist of the Cambodia Space Project, was killed in a traffic accident in Phnom Penh a couple weeks ago. She leaves a lot of friends and fans. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I’m at work, but streaming some Miles Davis over my phone right now. Very cool music by this cat! Would @Bird Lives approve?
It was the “Kind of Blue” album and was released in 1959. The tunes are definitely mellow, but it was a great stress reliever while at work. @Bird Lives , since I’ve been finding myself drifting from the new “cool” jazz to the classic stuff, what do you recommend? I really like the sounds of Davis and Brubeck and I’m heading in that direction.
If you haven't listened to Olivia, I highly recommend her. She can sing like crazy. Of course, she uses a lot of Japanese in her songs, but I don't mind.
"Kind of Blue" is one of the most popular, and largest selling Jazz LPs in history....Although it has been copied to this day...that perticular album is very very deep on many levels, emotionally, spiritually aswell as from a musical, theoretical perspective. I recommend, Coltrane's "Blue Trane"....and Davis' "Milestones" aswell as "Sketches Of Spain", "Porgy and Bess", "Birth of the Cool", "My Funny Valentine" Miles In Europe"...and Bill Evan's "We'll Meet Again"....Cannonball Adderley's "Something Else" ....Oliver Nelson's "Blues and The Abstract Truth"... Ohh and don't forget MY album "From the Moon" still readily available... Let me know what you think of those...and for Hardcore High Energy Smoking...Dizzy Gillespie's "Sonnyside Up" and "For Musicians Only" are both unsurpast!!!
I’ll definitely be giving these some play time over the next few days and I’ll let you know what I think. Thanks Bird!
