    RyX DoH!

I'm not worried about recent talk of tariffs. Chinese blades are generally accepted to be the worst around, & I already got my Merkur Futur clone. We grow enough pork here in the US that there's bristle for brushes. There's been some embassy evictions going around that I'm hoping doesn't affect Russian DE blade shipments. Worst case scenario - I'll pick up a set of Arkansas stones and learn to hone my straights.

Paul, if you shave indoors, the weather shouldn't affect your shaves too much. Besides, the neighbors talk when you shave outdoors. ;)

    SOTD 4.9.2018
    Pre-shave: hot shower
    Brush: Omega Hi-Brush synthetic
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream
    Razor: GEM 1912
    Blade: GEM Stainless (4)
Post-shave: Dickinson's Original WH, Nivea Men Sensitive Cooling PS Balm, Osage Rub

A 2 pass shave with the 1912 resulted in a near-BBS. I thought I had located the Baby immediately after the shave, but upon post shave examination I found some stubborn whiskers on my throat where I often have trouble getting a close shave. Oh well... close enough. I'd rather have a blood-free, and irritation-free shave anyway.

    Happy shaves, everyone!

Well, you're right about the "indoors" thing, but if I use a warm aftershave in the summer, I'd be sweating aftershave, not sweat(when I go out). Or using Stoylin Glacial Wintergreen to welcome the New Year?? Read below for what would be my reaction to THAT..

Thanks, Jason. It is in great shape. It had a bit of rust around the hinges when I first got it, but it cleaned up nicely.

Thanks, Jim! All of you guys inspire me to focus on my photographic talents.

Shave gear trade wars are no big deal for @Paul Turner, either. I just learned that he shaves outdoors, so he's not even dependent on electricity for den lighting. I suspect he'll go totally off the grid when he moves out west. :p

Maybe one of the blade stops is off a little.... but at least it doesn't affect the shave. Here's photos of my 1912s.... the one on the right is the GEM 1912, the one on the left is the ER 1912.

Cheer up my friend . Since Feb 1 of this year I've acquired 250 DE blades and about 125 SE blades . When the stock gets low I'll be sure to sound the alarm . Last count was 5 DE and only 2 SE razors so far . Let's not go there with soaps 10 and brushes 3.
Right now I have AD and I'm probably driving Mr Miagi(Fuzzy) insane with razor questions. He's been enabling(helping) me through this patiently I must add.

    Yesterday's shave:
    Gillette Ball End Old Type
    Feather Blade
    30DC brush
    Lisa's Natural Soap
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    Fragrance of the day: Boucheron

This is my comfort zone shave. My favorites in every category. My desert island setup. It ended as expected.

    Tonight:
Tonight I decided to pull out the Ol' Pacific $1 DE razor. Yep, that one. Threw a Treet Platinum blade in and paired it with a Palmolive stick, my 30DC brush, and some warm water and proceeded to have a somewhat embarrassingly good shave with some of my least expensive gear. Yessir, that's one of the benefits of being a long time 30DC member. The lather I would put against any other soap in my den. And the $1 razor? Light, deft, and effective with a blade that many won't give any love to. Two easy passes and a splash of Jeeves Black Tea aftershave and I have my new travel setup.

Another interesting development: my wife has refused to try any of my razors. Some time back I bought a nice Gillette Starburst from @Linuxguile in hopes that she would convert. Well, she finally tried it...and converted. Now I just have to get her into soaps and she can help me whittle down my collection.

Congrats on knocking off the Tabac, Keith!

    Excellent photos.

You're making me think about trying that $1 Pacific razor once again.

Congrats on converting your wife. It took some time to get mine to try too. She still won't use any of the soaps yet, though.

    Arko Adjustable April!!

    April 9

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (Me)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

Final shave with the Ladas and it seemed like it knew it. Not horrible but a bit tuggy in places. Sometimes Ladas let you know that three shaves is a safe limit. Still a favorite. I added the Stirling Mentholated pre-shave soap tonight since it's Menthol Monday. Nice burst of coolness to the Arko with the Stirling on first. Two passes and some touch up for a very nice DFS result. The 30DC LE brush is as awesome a performer with the Tuxedo knot as it is a looker!

My new Qshave arrived today which was a total surprise. It shipped Friday, I believe, from Michigan and was here already. Maybe the USPS can find Ofallon faster than St. Charles. Who knows. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
