Terrific photo, Neal. Congrats on receiving the new Qshave.... looking forward to seeing it in upcoming shave reports.

I bought my wife an Edwin Jagger Heather and a 1965 Lady Gillette. She tried the EJ a few times, not real excited about it. Tried the Gillette and has been hooked ever since. Nice move on your part! Glad to see a $1 razor delivering a great shave. You know why that is, right? Yep. It's YOU and solid TECHNIQUE! You make us proud when you do things like that!

I don't know. I'm seeing enough Tabac residue for probably a dozen more shaves. Just saying.

I wouldn't worry about any interruptions to the Russian blade supply. Their sellers make too much money off of us decadent Westerners. Unless something happens at Customs on either end, there are plenty of Russian Comrades in the Cartel willing to trade American $$$ for Russian steel. Capitalism is alive and well over there, whether they will admit it or not.

Careful there. @wchnu, aka Fuzzy, aka the Fuzz Man, aka the Fuzzter, aka.....well....you get the idea.....anyway....he is one of the most devious and skilled enablers I've ever met. Approach with caution, your Ebay and Paypal logons in your hand and prepare to see your collection grow.

Getting her own razor? That'll make your blades last longer, but she's got more sq.in. of area to cover. Better stock up on blades soon as you figure out which she likes. Go ahead and toss in a 100 pack for yourself!

Plenty of floral soaps if that's her thing. Fruity, chocolate, coffee, etc. Volunteer to make her a lather? Once she get a feel for the lanolin/ shea butter / tallow goodness of a premium product there's no turning back. And you can gently guide her to a brand you like. And add a puck of you fav on "her" next order!

    Significant Other Enabling is Fun!

Just did a quick count with all of the discussion of blade numbers bouncing around. Currently I can account for 700 Sharp Star, 400 Voskhod and 100 Astra SP still in 100 packs. That's 1200. Add 200 in variety packs plus all of the loose tucks and you're at 1600 if not a few more. Then there are the loose blades. Let's say 100. Not all of which would be truly usable except in an emergency. (See: Tiger, Quick Tiger etc.) So, 1700 total. If I use a blade three shaves and out, that's 5100 shaves. Translate to years and I wouldn't need to buy another blade for 13.97 years. I should live that long, unless my pancreas finally decides to just explode, so I'm not panicking anytime soon. Although I'm thinking a full 20 year supply would be better. Extrapolating those numbers I need 734 more blades. See....told you I'm low.

APRIL Focus out the window! Kinda...

    Proraso Green shave soap
    Omega Pro #10098 boar brush
    Suribachi bowl and cool water
MÜHLE R89 Grande, Kai (5th use)
    Osage Rub, Proraso Green lotion
SOTD 04092018 Kai 5th.gif It's a Menthol Monday/ Inspired Shave/ Recruiting Enticement for member @deniro444. He mentioned a setup along these lines, so I took it and ran! A quick wetting of the ole O'Pro98, loaded and went to the bowl. Soft soap so I didn't souse or need a second dip. More that plenty lather from all of 15-20 seconds loading. Popped the Kai blade out of the German Slant and ... huh. The center hole on a Kai is small or the threaded post of a MÜHLE 3pc is fat. It fit but not as well as every other blade I've ever used. Don't think I'll be ordering a 100 pack of these even though I do like the way they shave. So I mushed the blade down, assembled, and lathered up. Three easy mild passes accentuated by a fairly sharp blade on it's 5th outing. Still plenty of lather so I pushed my luck with all those extra passes that can cause trouble. Rinse and an alum swipe revealed little noise and a decent DFS. A carefully applied shot of The Rub, followed by the minty fresh Green Proraso lotion. Cool.
    Great Shaves Y'all!

I’ll have to plan carefully or she’ll see through that veil of self-serving deception.

The Rub made my eyes tear up a lot this morning. I guess I didn’t do a carefully applied shot.

    Pretty razor, Fuzzy!

That tiny amount of Clubman keeps going and going and going.

I like the level of cooling the Stirling pre-shave soap adds as well. And it does add slickness to the shave, it's not all in your head. If you look at the ingredients they basically took a really nice pre-shave oil and just compressed it all into bar form. It's the only pre-shave product that I've used and actually liked. The oils just add drag, in my opinion, but in this form they seem to work quite well!

First it was the cookies. Now you barely have any blades around. We're keeping an extra eye on you. The Cartel smells trouble! (although sending some double fudge chocolate ice cream to HQ would probably distract us. Just saying)

    jluc smelling pretty

I have tried to get my wife interested in a de and shave soap, even offered to whip up a lather and help her. She'll have none of it. In her defense she was there my first de shave. I was using what was described as a mid aggressive razor. It didn't go well. I was on Amazon ordering an EJDE89L, Derby blades and a styptic pencil literally before the bleeding stopped. I can see why she's more than a little leery.

Nice! Love the pain sticks and it's good to hear from someone who likes the style of the Feather SS. Many prefer the DX design without that curved lip but I find I can shave equally as well with either style. The guard blades are a good product as well. I used them while learning. I have found that I prefer the Pro blades without the guard, but at times (usually while bleeding) I'm reminded why the guards can be a nice touch.
