Wasn't sure about this one at first, but it does have potential, even with the inside gutted out. A 1 cent bid and $3.65 shipping, not bad..........
I saw one of those a while back that had been speckled with red and white paint. I thought paint it with a nice royal blue and put on a Gillette decal in either yellow or gold would look real sharp.
Paid more than I normally would for a Fatboy, but in the combo it was reasonable. It comes with a cool mug and a sweet blue Made Rite brush. Don't take much to please me. BTW it's an E2 (1959 Second Quarter) Crows and Ravens are my favorite birds ... lots of personality.
I have that same brush @Linuxguile sent me a while back. Going to have to dig it out and restore that one soon.
I'm not sure about mine. I was thinking about back to original because except for restoring some boars to original, I really haven't put badgers where they were . I just used mostly synthetics and a couple boars. Still thinking though.
1949 superspeed w/ the cream dispenser. I got it for a good price, not high not low. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Waiting on a banged-up Aristocrat. It definitely has a bent safety bar which I hope I can straighten.
I don’t mean to be a bummer or a buzz kill but the high mountain badger(animal) or Manchurian badger (whatever the correct spelling is) is not a natural badger hair like silvertip. It is basically a process in which they process the hair to be thicker than silvertip. All it does is holds more water where the silvertip already holds a lot of water. Too much I find in some shaves with both my Kent’s I actually find that I make a better lather without soaking the brush and I also find that they lack density and splay out too easily. I still got a wonderful shave and enjoy using them but I find myself using synthetic more than the silver tips for scrubbing purposes and they whip up lather with less soap. This is my opinion which I’m basically saying the high mountain knot is a Money grab created by Simpson’s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Doesn't hurt my feeling ... I usually purchase the far less expensive (AKA cheap) badger knots. They shed a little bit in the beginning, but settle down to be a DFK.
Ahh, so you're the one who got it. Gonna have to up my max bids from now on. Just kidding, glad it was a Shave Den member.
I should have figured that you were one of the other bidders. We seem to be looking at similar auctions.
I was watching it as well. If you need help repairing it, I'm sure Captain Murphy could give you a hand.
Clix. Similar (if not same?) as the Bakelite Simplex head I like, and I know it has fans here ( @gorgo2 ++). I saw that Bob from BRW liked his enough to replate the Zamak head. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
A couple brushes that need a little work ... The red Made Rite looked too good to pass up and the Erskine will be a project.
