I have most of my blades and a bunch of other stuff in a big tackle box that my wife bought for that purpose. The day before we moved it was sitting in the middle of the floor and she ran into it. After the cussing stopped she asked me what in the world was so heavy in there. I reminded her that razor blades are made of steel. Taken individually they don't weigh anything. Put about 1500 of them in a small area like that - solid steel baby. She started paying attention to it after that.

I gave my wife a ‘64 Lady Gillette for Christmas. I didn’t ask her or hint ahead of time, I just got it. I figured she’ll try it and like it, or if she hates it I’ll have another one in my collection.

It was about a month before she actually used it the first time. I gave her instructions on using it. That first time she got several nicks and I thought she’d give up on it right then. But she kept using it. She’s reporting blood-free shaves now and likes it more. I still haven’t convinced her on using a soap or cream yet.

I think it helps that I got our sons using DEs, and I deliberately gifted her this one for Christmas so she opened it in front of them. They encouraged her to try it too. Oh... wait? Did that sound devious?

    26 GSB (unopened tucks)
    20 Voskhod
19 some crappy NOS Russian nonsense
    10 Derby

And about 140ish Saloon blades for shavettes.

By the time I run out, the plan is grow a beard and dreadlocks, and move to the Caribbean. From there, for fun, I will organize the first polar circumnavigation of earth by civilians. UN is probably gonna frown on it, but it pays to have goals. So anyway, once I get that figured out, it'll just be tuna fishing and lots of naps. Anybody else here just nuts about mofongo? I mean, put enough pork fat in Styrofoam and it will taste ok...but mofongo is really great. Finally cut it off, and most of the glue is gone now... hair too. Somebody let Jennifer know that it's totally flat and coming along great. You're in good hands, my brother.

Gangsta Rap made me do it.

    What else is going on?

I'll let her know her nursing skills were not in vain. Beard, dreadlocks, Caribbean. Forget everything that comes after that. Well, except the naps. I'll take the naps.

Cool, I didn't shave today. Ergo, a more general update was in order.

In Vancouver for meetings for the next few days. Shaved early this morning. Nice 2 pass shave, but I think this Nacet is done. Not sure how many days are on it, actually. Will switch to a Voskhod tomorrow morning. Finished with the awesome Gentleman today, but will maybe switch it up to the CC tomorrow. Going to go try to read some of the thread now.
Have a great day tomorrow all!

    RyX DoH!

Rough count - around 140 DE blades, & two full 7 packs of Chicks. I tend to shave every other day so I'm good until around New Years 2022. That's not counting the injector blades.

Beard and dreads? Crazy talk! Fresh tuna sounds good. Made sushi with my dad couple days ago. Mom still won't do raw tuna.

Tuesday April 10 - going full Soapy Bathman

    IMG_00000220.jpg
Pre: shower with Soapy Bathman Cup of Joe shower soap
Pal adjustable injector on 2nd notch / Schick Super Chromium (1)
JR #267 birdseye maple and boar brush
    The Dry Dock shave bowl
Soapy Bathman Cup of Joe soap
Alum and Soapy Bathman Cup of Joe balm

I went all out with Soapy Bathman products today. The shower soap version of Cup of Joe contains coffee grounds to exfoliate the skin. I found that if I rubbed the soap bar directly on my skin it felt like I was using sandpaper; rubbing the soap on a washcloth or scrub brush and then washing with that worked better. The soap did leave me feeling extremely clean though, and the mild coffee scent was nice.

I then moved on to the shave. The full tub of soap is indeed very hard. I don’t know if SB uses a milling process but the soap is much harder than B+M, Jeeves or Stirling and seems closer to European soaps like Pre de Provence or MdC. I expect the puck will last a very long time. It lathered very easily though just using a damp brush on the dry puck and then trickling a bit of extra water on as I went along -- I didn't souse the puck and see no need to.

The brush loaded well and whipped up enough lather in The Dry Dock to do my two passes with two or three to spare. Excellent creamy lather with good shave protection and the fine face feel I have come to expect from lanolin and tallow soaps. After two easy passes with the Pal loaded with a fresh Schick blade, I am BBS. I did reopen the tiny weeper I gave myself at the corner of my mouth a couple days ago. That seems to be a problem spot for me, especially with injectors for some reason.

The SB balm finished me off in fine style, leaving my skin smooth, well hydrated and smelling of coffee.

I, for one, like the Treet Platinum; I only have a couple left but should really pull one out one of these days. As for the $1 razor, there is a thread over on B&B about people’s experiences with the latest Dollar Tree razor.
