    Right I'm in :).
Arko so far has been interesting. Saw a vid of putting soap directly onto wet face and then lathering with wet brush. My face does not like this and ended up very dry after a couple of weeks so had a couple of days off and changed to the routine I'll use for the month which is brush to soak>hot towel>face wetting>take soap from stick> lather on face> shave>hot rinse>cold rinses>balm.

    Thus far I've no dryness.
Implements are in the pic, blades remain Astra Greens.

    April 10 SOTD:

    Razor: Gem MMOC
    Blade: Gem Stainless
    Brush: Elite Razor Manchurian White
    Lather: Proraso Red
    Aftershave: Proraso Red
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

I kept it to one pass this morning, and rushed it just a bit. I would rate this as a SAS, as I didn't really stretch my skin well. It definitely helps this razor out. Not a bad shave, just not quite as good as I have had recently. No irritation, which is a plus. I hope everyone has a great day!

Rough night last night with back pain so I am running behind this morning. Good thing this setup works so well. An excellent drama free three pass shave with touch ups. A splash of Fine Lavender and I am ready for the day. Let's hope the pain pills kick in soon. They should make tax return prep interesting. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

He's training me to pay less per purchase and not be trigger happy when shopping. I'm assuming this is so I can buy more at less $$$ which will increase the volume of razors and decrease all that wasted bathroom counter space.
[ QUOTE="NCoxSTL, post: 1415837, member: 13421"]Just did a quick count with all of the discussion of blade numbers bouncing around. Currently I can account for 700 Sharp Star, 400 Voskhod and 100 Astra SP still in 100 packs. That's 1200. Add 200 in variety packs plus all of the loose tucks and you're at 1600 if not a few more. Then there are the loose blades. Let's say 100. Not all of which would be truly usable except in an emergency. (See: Tiger, Quick Tiger etc.) So, 1700 total. If I use a blade three shaves and out, that's 5100 shaves. Translate to years and I wouldn't need to buy another blade for 13.97 years. I should live that long, unless my pancreas finally decides to just explode, so I'm not panicking anytime soon. Although I'm thinking a full 20 year supply would be better. Extrapolating those numbers I need 734 more blades. See....told you I'm low.[/QUOTE]
Avoid the chaos and rush. Buy now . Think 25 year plan . And don't forget the possibiity of a soap apocalypse.
Hmmm . That line sounds familiar.
. Substitute lather catcher for feather weight. I fell in the rabbit hole.

Great pic Jason. Are you taking in a hockey game when you are there? The Leafs could be in town ....

I spied a BBBBB. Beautiful birdseye boar bristle brush in that pic. Can also be called a 5B for short.

Nifty picture as usual. Interesting that less skin stretching results in a coarser shave for you but not any injuries from the MMOC. I would have expected nicks and weepers; clearly you have the use of that razor mastered.

Didn't change the blade, but had a nice shave. I guess either my lather or technique was off yesterday rather than the blade.

Chris, this is a great post. I agree 100% on the benefits of being a long-term 30 DC member and being able to get a fantastic shave with a basic kit. Additionally, it's nice to have a few items identified for a simple travel kit. My most basic kit consists of a plastic Trac II razor handle loaded with a Personna cartridge, a Palmolive or Tabac shave stick, my Kent BK4 brush, and a dab of unrefined shea butter in a small plastic container. I've even substituted hand-applied shave gel or cream for the soap and brush. Either way, the shaves are surprisingly good and fairly quick to boot.

Congrats on converting your Bride to a DE razor. I remember those Lady Gillettes from my childhood. Those are super cool razors. I bet she will enjoy trying all your different soaps.

Hope all is well, my friend.

    SOTD April 10, 2018

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick M1 adjustable injector
    Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic
Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave

Not quite as comfortable a shave as hoped for. Started with a vintage Personna blade and it felt tuggy from the start. Did the first pass to see if it would smooth out some, but no luck. So I switched out for a Chick blade and did some clean up. Pretty good shave all in all. The Jeeves soap and splash are both top quality. Great stuff. I'm keeping on with the Bay Rum soap for another couple of days.

    Have a great day!

Sorry to hear about the back pain. Hope you feel better soon. Mind you, I always considered pain pills an automatic necessity for doing tax returns...

Interesting perspective for the photo and a good report. Sorry to hear the vintage blade let you down today - the older Personnas are usually pretty good. I agree that the Jeeves soaps and splashes are great stuff. Enjoy your Bay Rum run!
