In other news, I started taking pictures of the award prizes for the 2018 Shaveys this week. They are a bit better than last years, but still crappy enough to make sure the awards don't get too "high falutin" and also don't encourage anyone to go do something stupid and injurious just to win one. Having said that, I know that's a bit redundant since low falutin, stupid and injurious is kind of our sweet spot here...

I rather like the Treet Platinum, I think I have about 400 of them. Congrats on finally getting her converted. I'm holding on to a Champagne Starburst for my wife should she ever decide to give it a go.

Randy @BaylorGator, great shave photos today! The brush and bowl look fantastic, and I think Delta Echo really outdid themselves on your Slim!

Yes, I saw and heard Doc Ezlovan say that himself on an interview at a shave meetup(Maggard's I believe).

Thanks Randy. Every item in my setup is a variable except for a suribachi bowl. I don't face lather competently, and Old Spice mugs are only good for holding or loading soaps. These bowls (I have two) are wide ans shallow and let me see what I'm doing. I think the texture helps, too.
Thank you Andrew. As much as I'm trying to maintain Focus I have kept to one single DE blade, but the variety of soaps won't let me stay on Stirling.

Welcome to The 30 Day Crew!

Arko drying? It's soap, so like many it can wash natural oil off the skin. Easy to replace with the choice of post shave products. During winter and low humidity weather I might still use it. Doing a Rule of a month's shaves ought to tell you how it treats your face.

Your razor - Merkur Futur or Clone? I've got a Ming Shi 2000S that's one of my few modern, purchased new razors. From reports the Clones shave as well as the Original. Have you settled on a setting? For me 4-1/2 gives close & comfortable.

Ever Ready 1912 (Made in England) - Day 5
    Blade - GEM Stainless (4)
    Brush - Bluebeards Doubloon
    Lather - Proraso White
Post - Witch Hazel & Arko Natural Cream

Another good close shave after 2 passes. I got a little bit carried away and attempted some touch up though... Caused myself a little irritation and a couple of tiny weepers under the chin/jawline area.

It's a Merkur Futur mate. So far I've been easing into things with it for a bit. The drying with Arko seemed to go when I altered how I used it slightly. In terms of settings I plan to work things through a little now I'm a bit more used to it but so far I use 3 for WTG and just 1.5 for XTG and lower on the occasions I go three pass. I do plan to open it up a little more to see how it compares to the R41 when on higher settings but its a case of feeling things out bit by bit.

Indeed. I gave it a bit of thought during a walk at lunch and my best guess is that I had an extra 12 hours on that shave from Sat Night to Monday morning. The extra growth when complicated with a half awake don't really give a crap Monday before work lather had a negative impact on the shave. I don't count the number of shaves on the blade but was probably 4 or 5 at that point. I will see how it goes tomorrow.
