    I take that back, I DO hate what has happened to Christmas. I would rather have to celebrate in private than have it bastardized in public.

    Thus the reason I make fun of the whole "Santa" thing. Something I really respect about my son is the fact that his 5 year old daughter knows that Santa was a historical figure and does not deliver toys. She knows that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus, not a free for all to get toys. That took alot of discipline to deny a kid the dream of Santa. Even many devout Christians fail to do that.

    Growing up we always did stockings on the Feast of St.Nick. So I knew that Santa was based off of a real person, but not a real person himself and that the purpose is of Christ-mas is to celebrate Christ. I am struggling with whether or not the mass celebration of christmas is a good thing or not. Part of me wants to say that everyone should be welcome, but the other part of me wants to say that it is devaluing a religious holiday as a whole and affect it with in the confines of the church.
