I uses a pasted strop every couple shaves and then to a finishing stone for a touch up. My finishing stones are a Sahapton Glass 16k and Gokuymo 20k. I’m a 4 pass shaver with a tough beard and like my edges crisp.

30 laps linen/30 laps leather. Tony Miller's instructions. Has worked for years.

I’ve just been doing 40 laps on leather and I can do maybe 10 shaves before I need to go back to the 12k. I’ve only been using the canvas after honing. I’ll try the canvas in my routine.

TOBS Rose cream, Iron Town Brush, C.V. Heljestrand Sculpta razor, Proraso Eucalyptus aftershave. One and a half passes. Fifteen strop laps midway. Minimal bloodletting. Very nice, close shave.

I'm getting to like this little Sculpta. It'll bite, but it'll also purr.

My routine is 20 on firehose linen, 50 to 60 on leather then after the shave 20 on rough linen. The excpetionis when using my Mastro Livi strop, then it is 40.

Tonight's shave was with a newly acquired, restored(kind of), and honed razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS. I was caught by the spike tip, because I wasn't paying attention. It was a bleeder. Oh well, it was small, but deep.

Razor- M.L.Brandt Cutlery Co. Germany & New York
    Brush- Omega Boar
    Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy Scented
    Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

Sounds great mine as well as I usually have to go across grain on my neck to get a baby smooth shave as my entire neck grows east in direction. If my blade is not at par I can get serious irritation. Which is why I invested in the entire Shapton progression but I only find myself using 1k for bevel set 4k and 8k then finish on 16k I haven't gone above 16 yet as I Find the edge with the 16 is already so delicate. I stay away from pastes as I also find they dumb down my edges after the stones. I think I'm going to invest in a 12k naniwa as well just to close the large gap from 8 to 16k.

Nice shave this morning. 4th lather with the ABC brush. I look forward to using this brush in the future. I think it's going to be a good one with a excellent knot. I don't know if my picture hosting site is working but here goes nothing.....

    Beautiful razor and Welcome!
Love the flowing line from tang to blade... just beautiful.
And I can’t wait for you to share more of your “babies” in action. If I could vote :) I would love to see that Klaas 14 sooner than later. You have a great collection.

It maybe sacrilege but I did a test between Shapton glass 16k and Gokuymo 20k, surprising most of my razors prefer the Shapton 16k. Despite the labeling the Shapton tends to deliver a sharper edge than the G20. Both deliver excellent edges for me with smoothness and sharpness. In our never ending OCD led obsession for the perfect edge I have been wondering about the Shapton 30k, but the price has kept me from finding out.

Wagner! Perfect for a straight razor shave.
