    Arko Adjustable April!!

    April 13

    Razor - Qshave (Futur Clone)
    Blade - rapira-platinum-lux.jpg (1)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Arko
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Sitting here listening to it thunder outside. Nice to hear the sounds of Spring, although it appears we'll be back to late winter early next week. Did my head shave earlier with the Merkur 23c. As for the "real" shave, after three great shaves with the Schick it's time to move on to the Qshave. This Future clone is a big heavy razor with a big scary gap range. It's been said before here - a Futur set on 6 is capable of de-barking logs!

Well, since 6 (setting Neal just fainted) is so high, I just decided to go to 1. Right? Wrong. Turned the dial to 6, fainted when I saw the gap, woke up and shaved like a boss. The Rapira PL was smooth and sharp and the lather laid down by the Stirling synth brush was just like Arky should be. Perfect.

With the weight of this razor I focused on setting the angle and then just holding the handle so the razor stayed in place. Two passes later and the baby is in the house. Without touchups. Just WTG and XTG. That's it folks. Now THAT'S how a big aggressive razor should work!

Reason #72 for loving this thread: Just read the past couple of pages. Shaving, bad opening novel lines both published AND many of our own entries. With additions. The Mobius Loop, among others, made it into the discussion as well. Oh, yes, and some shaving. There is no place else on earth like this place.

I agree. A fine shaver. Thanks!

    Thanks, Jason!

I ordered a 100 of the Crystal blades from a shaving vendor last year. They work very well for me.

I really like Grooming Department soaps as well. I agree that the scents can be a bit tricky. I love Magnolia. I can't decide on Merchant of Tobacco. It doesnt smell bad. At all. It's just that it's missing the note of...tobacco. Which I kind of expected.

You could just use the soap whilst hot-boxing OGS in your car, only with the heat set to recirculate. Should last you all day.

    You're welcome.

Thank you Jason! I only have one paired soap and AS that happened on purpose. Ginger's Garden / The Shaving Shop - Acqui di Florida and M&L Florida Water. Everything else is either sniff and compare, or go to basenotes.net. This paring shares two scents. Gentleman is a four note song - tobacco, vanilla, amber, and musk. Shulton Old spice sounds like the cargo hold got swept up; Orange, Lemon, Spices, Clary Sage, Aldehydes, Cinnamon, Carnation, Geranium, Jasmine, Heliotrope, Pimento Berry, Vanilla, Musk, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Benzoin, Tonka, Ambergris. I don't know for sure what at least 8 of those smell like.

For a while I've been using that above noted website for research purposes. The other day I saw a TSD member's name pop up on Tapatalk when he posted there. Might even have been a 30 DC member... I'm not outing anyone, in fact I went ahead and signed up myself. Five years ago I bought deodorant on sale, used it, replaced it as needed. Never used AS and rarely any other scents. Call me a Dandy, but I'm learning.

I can't make em up like this. Someone else did, but I can't.

What's this shaving thing all about? You guys seem like that stuff!

I have been shaving with Arko and Astra, setting Neal on the 195. It's been good! The aftershaves have seen a rotation between Veg and Proraso Green. @Drygulch beat me to the punch on novel-writing this evening, so I'll do the opposite. And this Friday Night Funk Break goes out to Seoul, ROK....we all know that it's Saturday Night and @Keithmax is having a hard time holding those alligators down!

Don't be so hard on yourself! It's not made up, that has to be real.

I can only assume then that you've got the gators under control. Things are always right at Seoul HQ, y'all. You may disregard my avatar and carry on!

Bonus Friday night instructions, kids....when the DJ mixes this classic track....

Dance to the synth bells: at least you won't look silly.
Dance to the bass guitar: the gators are on the prowl.
Dance to rhythm guitar: don't! You'll look like you have a neurological issue.

I had just fired up a good Maduro and poured a cup of dark roast when she walked in. All chunky hips and redhair... The sky cleared...the sun shone through...and the angels joined in with the Commadores singing..."She's a brick.....house..."

    Gillette Aristocrat / Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless ( 4 )
Supply Co Silvertip Fibre synthetic brush
    KMF Lavender Shea Cream
Alum and Supply Co Lost Provence balm

My criteria for picking tonight's razor, brush, soap and balm is stated above -- in the rotation but not rotated through for so long I couldn't remember the last time. All performed splendidly; they all deserve more use than they have been getting.

Two quick passes to a DFS; no comments from Mr. Alum.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I was thinking of using my Ming Shi 2000s on 6 for MAYhem... How much more aggressive than an English made 1912 would it be? I'd be using an Astra SP.
