I used a styptic stick and Dove plus post shave balm and it was ok. I have an alum block on the way but was wondering what the best aftershave I should be using for the burn.
If your suffering from razor burn I'd use Dickerson's which hazel. How many passes do preform? I usually only do only two. It's your skin; your the best judge what's right for you.
Add witch hazel to your routine. It will help. Then try some aqua velva. It has been helping rough shaves for a long time. Also once your technique improves you will probably not have as many problems.
Witch hazel will help allot, tea tree oil will help as well. Look for aftershave that say "soothe", most of these have witch hazel in them.
When I started my routine was. Alum Rinse Unscented Thayers witch hazel Proraso Shave Balm Splash on Brut (for alcohol & stank) Small dab of Trumpers Skin Food It was a lot of stuff to do, but soothing. Since then I have reduced much, but I still like them all. I consistently keep witch hazel. I have added Pinaud Clubman on occasion & other splash ons. Clubman has a wonderful tingling and skin tightening effect. Originally the smell bothered me some, but it has grown on me. I doesn't last long enough but has a mild baby powder like linger. I have also added Stirling Glacial Unscented Balm. Stays on top more than Proraso & Trumpers, so use sparingly.
It's all I have for burn (that, and witch hazel). When I'm burned, nothing works nearly as well to sooth and to heal it. https://www.getluckytiger.com/products/after-shave-face-tonic/
I'd suggest you join the 30 day focus group ... they help alot. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/april-2018-30-day-rule-focus-pix-discussion.59288/
I second some others and say come join us in the 30 Day Rule/Focus thread. Proper technique with light pressure, beard mapping, and other tried and true methods should eliminate most razor burn. At the same time, if you need something soothing for post shave care then I recommend Nivea sensitive balm in the white bottle.
