1. I use a washcloth and The Lovely Mrs Headroom uses one of those puffies. Lathers good at home where we have a water softener. It was reported that the soap was I little more difficult where visiting relatives. I would think it would be used in the fashion any bar soap would.

  3. I saw one at my local Asian market so I bought Quantity 1 for 5$

Its great with bodywash or a liquid soap. I make my own liquid soap by chopping up a bar of Kirks Coconut soap (3 bars for $4 at Walmart) and add it to 64 oz of boiling water and let it mix for an hour and cool back down. Makes a great hand soap and a very cheap bodywash that has no chemicals and harsh ingredients.

The best strategy with the Salux washcloth is to squeeze it and it will release a bunch of foam and then swirl that on your skin and when it seems like the foam is running out just squeeze the hell out of it again and it will release more foam. I had to squeeze it 3 times total to complete my shower. It sure is nice for washing the back without contortions and seems like the washcloth will last at least 2 years unlike those poofs from CVS that barely last 3 months before falling apart.

  4. Local Asian market, eh? There's one in my town-I'll have to see if they have one, too. I'll compare it to the "steel-wool-type" I have now(which isn't steel-wool per se, it just has that appearance). Y'know, maybe that's what I have now-a "poof". I do notice some wear&tear happening with it.
  5. I do both great bath soap. So far my Favorite is the Barbershop.

  6. Bergamot Lavender is also a good one.

I have Barbershop shampoo bar. I love giving my son’s head a sniff when he wants a hug.:)
  7. I've decided I'm not above buying a shampoo bar next year. I wonder if Doc Ezlovan has thought about having more types available than we see now. Course I like his current choices. Well, just now I see that a reviewer of the Barbershop shampoo bar agrees with me-he'd like to see Xecutive Man. He also mentioned Sharp Dressed Man, but the Doc already has that one out.Maybe the review came prior.
  8. I'm pretty sure since its not shaving related, shampoo bars and bar soap would not violate your NB18. Also maybe a great way sample new scents.
  9. Hey-never thought about that....thanks :).
  10. I have to eventually break out my Glacial Lemon Chill and Spearmint bath soaps as well as my new mentholated pre-shave soap.

  14. Good eye! I completely missed that while scanning the list of seasonal releases.

  15. I did the 5 swirl experiment today and here is how it looked for pass number 1 (acceptable)

Then after I rinsed off and lathered to begin pass 2 it looked like this:

That is unacceptable. So we know that 5 swirls is sufficient for a 1 pass + cleanup. Since I am lookiong for a 2 pass + cleanup I will need 10 swirls. So I would estimate that 15 swirls or less is required for a 3 pass + cleanup.

If someone would like to cooperate with me than please conduct your shave tomorrow with 15 swirls only (Its fine to switch from clockwise to counterclockwise). Please make sure you face lather and also use a synthetic brush because animal brushes always use more soap.

I hope I can get a couple of you gents on board for this scientific research. You may also discover if you are like me and used to load the brush mindlessly for over 30 seconds.....you may discover that you can reduce your loading time by 50% and also make your Stirling soap last twice as long. We shall see
  16. Twice as long as forever is still forever. :bounce015:You don't feel like you're sacrificing any slickness by having less soap in the lather ? Also are you using a synthetic brush ? I feel like natural hair brushes, especially boars, require way more soap then synthetics.
  17. Dangit!! Rod got me with his beach photo!!

  18. Yes I am using the Stirling 2 band tuxedo. Which for some reason is no longer listed on their website. I also ordered the Lil Brudder and waiting on that one to arrive. There was no slickness issue. I have discovered the slickness is mostly created from adding water. I like a thin, watery lather and get the best results from that. Especially with Stirling, the soaps are so damned slick that you could probably do a cleanup pass without even relathering because the post-shave slickness is so big.

Another thing I have discovered is that even if you lather wastefully and create an Arko-Man beard-foam that what happens is that during pass 1 that the guard of your razor will scrape off the excess lather and it ends up wasted in the sink-water. So there is certainly a point of diminishing returns. That is why I am doing these Scientific experiments to find out what are the upper and lower bounds of the range. I want to first find out what is the most miniscule amount of soap required for a comfortable shave and this will tell us the lower bound of the range. I think most gents can add 5 swirls on top of that number and will be pleased with the results.
Badass! I also ordered Island man aftershave (no menthol) and it should be arriving soon in the mail. Cant wait to hear your opinion about it. Im really excited about Island Man, I think I am probably going to love, love, love it. Its so cool when you find an aftershave scent that is a winner. I also ordered Tuscany, Bay Rum and Gentleman aftershaves. That brings me up to 7 total aftershaves that I own from Stirling. I will probably cap my excessive purchases here.
