Thank you Jason. We don't leave until tomorrow morning. I am still waiting on her to tell me if we are checking bags or carry on.

You might try shimming the blade. You can do this a couple of different ways. you can take the spine off an old SE blade and then break it in half and put one of the halves under the spine of the new blade in the razor. Or you can take an old injector blade, dull the edge, fold electricial tape over the blade, trim the excess, and place that under the spine of the new blade in the razor.
    Interesting experiment and results John.
    Fantastic photo, Clint!
    Very nice, Jim!
    Beautiful composition, Mark!
    Great travel setup, Perry!
    fantastic shot, Jason!

Clint @clint64, Jim @Norcalnewb, Mark @Boojum1, @PanChango, Perry @PLAla, Jason @jtspartan, Jim @jluc -- you set the bar high for the day for quality of photos and reports! And you gave a great start to my day reading what you wrote. Hope you all have a wonderful day and safe travels or commutes.

Clint @clint64 -- actually the reason I had the glycerin was for the same purpose you use it: to juice up postshave splashes and balms. Also to add a few drops into the lather bowl when using drying soaps and creams. Same reason I have the bottle of lanolin, assuming I can ever find it.

Jason @jtspartan -- Yes, Doing Science just saved my NB...

Does this mean I can "buy" a new TSD Splash w/Russian Leather when it empties, which should be sometime this year, given that I still have other A.S. brands, so it isn't as though I really NEED it?

I've opened the proverbial can of worms haven't I. As long as your inventory doesn't increase, replacement of something you are totally out of would be allowed in my world. Now, granted, my world is a strange and scary place for many. NB is designed to help clear out inventory before adding more but a net gain of zero seems appropriate to that.

Ahhh, I'll think it over. That's the way I saw it as being designed too, to clear out what we have NOW. I'll see how things look for me as the year comes to a close, but I think I'll be fine. I expect I'll be "replacing" my Aqua Velva sometime this summer(pretty low now), but when my Local Gent Fields&Streams soap runs out, I don't see a need to replace THAT. Ditto the Rte 66 Cavendish soap, which already got tossed out. As for my WSP Sandalwood A.S., I may have to use the "net gain zero" advantage, unless I feel OK with putting aside Lee's soap until next year(Lee of WSP), but even then I've decided to get the TSD Sandalwood A.S., not Lee's again. I know.,.I sound like Dick Vitale analyzing March Madness here, but NB equires a lot of reasoning.

I also add the glycerin to the drug store brand witch hazel as well.

I think we need a chart of that just to understand it, but as long as you know it's all good. Unless, of course, you want to make a chart.

This sounds crazy, but I've been getting my best shaves lately with the $1 Pacific DE razor and Treet blades. Used that setup yesterday with Grooming Department Magnolia, 30DC brush and some 4711 splash. Wonderful results.

By long-standing Ruling of the Moderators, there's an automatic Policy Exemption in all NBs for purchases from the TSD Shop anyway. The TSD Shop helps support the forum, and doing anything to discourage support for the forum is a Bad Idea, so purchases from the TSD Shop get an automatic pass. Therefore buying a replacement TSD Splash is perfectly fine, even if you still have other brands of aftershave in the inventory.

Not to be a wet blanket here, but I have given myself a personal rule that all my useable gear needs to fit into my shave cabinet. This means, by definition, that if I'm going to add something at this point, something else has to go in order to make room for it in my currently full cabinet. That requires me to sell or PIF something so I always stay in the zero sum category. (Thank God for the upcoming Shavey Awards providing the opportunity to thin out my inventory). Anyway, despite the zero-sum game, I'm about as far from a No-Buy as you can get, so excuse the pun, but I'm not buying this no-buy exception. (I know - wet blanket.)

This is an exception that should be easy to get behind.

As I was admiring my outstanding shave and faceterbating in my fortress on Mustifar, I felt a great disturbance in the Force. As if the voice of reason and common sense was encouraging those with more than two brain cells to rub together to avoid the insanity that is Mayhem. Mild May? Padawans, you have it in you to achieve greatness by doing things like taping razorblades to your fingers, yet you would settle for the mild side? We have much more teaching to do…

Actually, we strongly discourage the stupid human tricks that have become a May tradition around here. Please don’t do anything you are not comfortable with for fake internet points. I would encourage alternate activities for those not into the insanity. Know that you will be entertained by the shinanigins of the other 30DC members, and we will still help you learn how to get the best shave out of your mild set up. I agree that those can actually be harder to get a good shave than the more aggressive ones.

Thank you, Jason. We had a lot of fun, but it was tiring. We hit a park on the lake there and let the kids play. Then the other husband and I walked to get gourmet hotdogs as an appetizer for one of the best sandwiches ever made: the Darrell Special. I had more food yesterday than I have eaten in a long time. Lots of walking at the parks and lots of sun. I was a bit sore getting up this morning.
