My skin is not too sensitive and I never had any issues. When I first started wet shaving, it was the summer and I did not have any balms. I would use the alum for feed back and weepers while learning, then I would use aftershave. Once I was getting good consistent shaves, I stopped using the alum daily. As the weather cooled I figured I would try a balm for keeping my skin a bit moisturized. I used it on and off for awhile, then started to experiment more with my post shave. I would wash my face very thorough after my last pass and then again washing the alum off. I found that if I only focused on removing the lather while trying to keep a bit of slickness, the residual bit of slickness seemed to leave my skin soft. I started to use alum daily again for facial toning. I try to leave my face slick from the shave, keep it fairly wet and rub the alum on my face. I wait a bit then just dab my face to remove any excess water. Typically I then use an aftershave, do a few things and come back once dried for a light balm application. Sometimes I will just use a jelly or stronger scented balm and no aftershave. Alum is almost always a constant and I really think it is good for my skin type. I never find the need to wash it off. I have been doing this routine for some time and find that it really works great for me, leaving my skin soft, smooth, and moisturized. Sometimes there is a bit of the soap scent remaining which is also enjoyable, enhancing my post shave. I never had any issues and, in fact, my face has never felt better. Others have told me that my skin looks younger and or ask if I have lost weight - so it works for me.

I would just suggest you experiment with your face and skin to see what works best for you. You never know until you try.

Nice. I was kind of bummed when PAA's inventory of the SS & Al EVO's went out of stock and asked Doug in January if they were going produce more. They Fran said they were working on a new design for probably March, but haven't heard anything since. I have the mild PAA DOC version and like it, but was interested in an aggressive version like the EVO. I hope they are still planning and EVO replacement.

Thanks. It’s a unique razor that gives an excellent close shave. Not much blade curve in it, but the blade is held as rigid as well as any other top tier SS razors made out there. Plus with the dual open comb design, gives it a distinct look with great functionality. Good technique and a very light touch is rewarded with a BBS everytime. To bad it was discontinued. I actually saw one for sale on the b/s/t about a week ago for a very good price. This razor rarely pops up for sale anywhere. If you like a good, efficient and more blade feel in your shave, this is it. Not Ikon Tech like which exhibits some blade chatter when you have some serious hair growth, just more stable and rigid than the Tech and easier to use imo especially with thick, heavy beard growth....

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Colgate Shaving Mug Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #144 badger brush. I did two passes with the Gillette 195 Fatboy on 7 with an Astra SP blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then English Leather AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

What a great shave this was - Mo's Midnight Lime soap has such a lovely scent, it gives a boatload of rich, slick, protective lather, good blade glide, and it's so skin-friendly. After my shave I did two good splashes of Booster Iced Lime, followed by the wonderful Pe Re Ja Lemon Cologne which I love and Madame ain't too gaga about! Loll

    Have a great weekend!

Doing the "Titanic" thing with my Tabac is proving tedious. NOT the soap, heck, if I weren't getting the most fantastic shaves from it, I would have long ago tanked it. This soap really lasts. Even when fully "Bloomed" (that's for you @wchnu ) ;) the ring just goes on and on. But, I am determined. :)
Have a great Friday friends and a terrific weekend!
