  1. That cartoon is actually deep social commentary. People should re-watch it.

  7. Had nice shave with super speed and GSB tonight. Used a soap I got awhile ago, Reserve Spice, didn't really care for it. Finished with a splash of Speick.

  9. If you didn't care for the scent of the soap, fair enough. However, if you thought the performance was lacking - not slick enough, for example - be aware that the B&M Reserve soaps take a LOT of water. Load your brush as you would using your Haslinger or Proraso soap, then as you bowl or face lather, gradually trickle in about three times as much water as you usually use. You will find the slickness and protection of the soap improves dramatically. B&M Barrister's Reserve is one of the best performing artisan soaps out there - up there with Stirling and so forth - but you have to get it dialled in.
  10. A little late night April Anarchy occurred tonight. I am a head shaver, and shave my head 2-3 times per week. A while back I went looking for a cartridge razor for my head shaves. At my local Lidl store, I picked up a Cien Twin Blade shaving pack. A handle and 25 twin disposable blades for $4.99. I needed a head shave badly tonight so I lathered up some of the Jeeves Bay Rum that @Drygulch gifted a while back and went to work. By the way, this soap is outstanding and holds up favorably to anything else in my den. And the scent is one of my favorites, period.

After knocking out the head shave, I lathered up my face a did something to it that I haven't done in some time. I shaved my face with a cartridge razor. And I got a very nice shave out of it. For a quick shave grab these things work rather well and make for a nice, cheap travel system.

English Leather and some allMan balm for the head (got a little toasted at my son's sports day at school) and I feel quite nice.

  11. I still suggest the following for head shaves:

    Kai vs SS.jpg

CJB is also equally effective. Three great options! :happy088:
  12. Thursday April 26 - Eucalyptus mini Focus contd.

Supply Co V.2 SE injector on two - dot plate / Personna ( 12)
JR #267 birdseye maple and boar brush
    Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream
    Alum and Osage Rub

    IMG_00000229.jpg

The photo is from last Wednesday but nothing has changed except for the size of the hole in the bottom of the shaving cream. Other than that, the Vitos cream delivered the same slick lather, the razor delivered the same two good smooth passes, Mr. Alum kept his mouth shut, and the Osage Rub delivered the usual chilly kicker finish.

If this keeps up, I'm going to start sounding like @PanChango...

  13. Okay, Chris @Bama Samurai is one and Rick @RyX is two. I understand their motivations. But who are the other 498 people subscribed to Peaches' YouTube channel and why? It's almost scary to contemplate...

  17. Great travel shave this morning with my current travel setup: a post-War Tech, Cremo HH brush, and Arko. The blade was a Dorco ST-301.

One bit of unitended early MAYhem- The handle I was using consists of the collet from a New ball-end handle press fit into an empty .30-06 cartridge. I've used it before, but somewhere between the water temperature, pressure, and soap, the friction fit stopped being effective. As a result, the head fell off (about this time, I was glade it was a Tech and not an OC of some flavor). As a result, for much of the shave, I was using this odd grip of grabbing the handle by the neck to keep it from coming out... all the while applying no pressure and keeping a proper angle. :)

  18. April 26, 2018
    Timeless 0.95mm OC
    Feather
    Romera Olive Wood Synthetic
    AOS Ocean Kelp
    Fine Platinum

Inspired by @jluc , I decided to break out my Timeless 0.95mm OC. The little Romera Synthetic made short work of whipping up a rich slick lather. I went with a two pass shave starting with XTG followed by ATG. The baby was in sight so I paid particular attention to touching up ending with a BBS. A weeper due to operator error prevented it from being a truly epic shave. The Timeless OC is an exceptionally efficient shaver. A splash of Fine Platinum and I am off for the morning commute. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
