Ah! Thank you for clearing this up. I was looking at Allegedly Musical Peaches' Wikipedia entry and music website and trying to reconcile it with Flat Earth Peaches (maybe YouTube vids from years and years ago somehow?) ... But now it becomes clear: we are dealing with not one but TWO geniuses called Peaches...

    Uhm, 4,677 subscribers?!? EEK!

In a very loose and casual fashion perhaps...

    Are those roses??? Sigh...
    A beautiful photo nonetheless, Clint!
You seem to be sporting quite a few unique and awesome looking Aftershaves lately, Jim. Are these new purchases, or 'grabbing from the back of the cabinet'?
A great photo of a beautiful razor (and case!).
Happens to us all, Patrick. "The blade is dull, but I'll change it next time" is a common conversation I have with myself...
If you want to complete the full package, partner it with Stirling's 'The Lounge' to couple it with the 'Grandpa's smoking jacket' vibe.

So I guess what they're trying to insinuate very subtly is that they're going to move to the country and eat a lot of peaches. I wish they had come right out and said it so we didn't have to guess. Regardless, I enjoyed their jam much more than the other two peaches today.

My dad said a variation of it when I was younger and I try to remember it when I get caught up in things.

Aside from being insightful, he had a colorful vernacular and once called me "A wart on the ass of progress..."

Some days I just don't have much to say. I will see how I feel, but was thinking about morphing the year with the micromatic into finishing 100 blades with the micromatic. I have a 10o pack of Gem PTFE from Connaught that I have been using since Nov 22 when I decided to do it. I am not sure yet as it could turn into a couple years with my current routine.

I have never gotten that much longevity out of a stick of Arko. I normally get 6-8 weeks of daily use out of a stick. If this one goes away, I still have 26 of them left. I saw cases of Arko for $10 shipped on Amazon a few years ago and ended up buying 3 of them. Not sure WTF I was thinking at the time, but I have plenty of it left. Finished 10 from the first case then gave it a rest for a while when I got tired of it. I can't even count the number of Arko sticks I have used since 2010...

We all get to that stage sooner or later. Many people I knew from when I started with wet shaving settled into a routine and just go with it. After a few years, the discovery phase is finished, your technique is on point, and it really doesn't matter which razor or blade you use. A good shave can be had from just about anything. To me, it became more shaving again instead of a hobby. I have learned a ton and consistently get good comfortable shaves. I will not go back to carts and canned goo as long as I can avoid it, but I am no longer looking for the next best thing.

I must admit that Chris @Bama Samurai really surprised me with the 180 day run on the Arko stick. A couple months is closer to what I was guessing. I bought one of those cases of Arko on Amazon a couple years ago when they were being sold for the price of a single stick plus shipping. And it's going to be with me for quite awhile...

Shaving is still hobby for me rather than just shaving, mainly because I still have a bunch of vintage razors to recondition and try out -- plus new razors, brushes and soaps that still catch my eye. Although that part of it has really died down since I went on NB'18 this year -- and found a lot less that tempts me now than last year...

I've had this AS for a while. It is a smokey Sandalwood scent, and I like it well enough. It isn't necessarily my favorite, but I do like it.

This isn't necessarily from the back of the cabinet, but I have more AS than I can possibly use in my expected life, so sometimes, I don't get to all of them.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

You just summed up perfectly the entire idea of the 30DC - as far as shaving is concerned. Technique is what makes a shave good, bad, horrible, amazing etc. I can pick up a cheap Chinese DE and pop in a Derby, grab the Arko or Williams (yes, @wchnu I just posted that in public), use my cheap VDH Boar brush and finish with a very nice shave that serves me perfectly well. I can do the same with a Toggle, a Fatboy, a Merkur 23, whatever. I can also grab a Schick injector, MMOC, 1912, pain sticks, and have the same shave. Some are a little better, some a little worse but they're all great shaves. I'm not quite so good with straight razors and shavettes but there's only one reason I'm not - I don't have the technique perfected on those yet. It isn't the fault of those types of razors, it's my lack of practice and skill.

Too many guys who get into this world of ours think that it's the gear that is keeping them from getting great shaves. Now, if they're using carts and goo I agree. You can always do better than that. But - learn the technique and then amaze yourself with the ability to grab the "gear of the day" and have a great shave.

Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't buy more razors, soaps, brushes etc., because after all, we like shiny stuff. And some of the vintage stuff is just way too cool to not try out. So is some of the modern stuff. But all that stuff isn't the necessary part of shaving. It's the skill......TECHNIQUE that TRUMPS TOOLS! I know a lot of you have heard that and have lived it, but a reminder now and then doesn't hurt.

Of course, the 30DC is more than just shaving too. It's about shenanigans, challenges, stupid stunts, discussions about peaches - whether on the tree, off the tree or in la-la land. It's a fellowship of people seeking to perfect their skills and enjoy a really cool hobby. Or just shave. It's also about making friends, whether online or in real life. But thanks @PanChango for the reminder that chasing gear for the sake of chasing gear, while fun at times, isn't at the core.

With that, I leave you with Peaches.
