Friday April 27 - ever onward with the eucalyptus!

Usual good shave today with this setup. I whipped the cream in the shave bowl rather than face lathering for a change but other than that, just the same as usual. Two and a half passes (an extra touchup XTG pass along the underside of my jaw) brought me an irritation-free BBS today.

However, I made a horrifying discovery recently -- my beautiful mint matte black Supply Provision injector is no longer mint. I have a pottery brush-and-soap holder that I bought from a potter in Halifax NS 30 years ago. A cake of Williams or similar puck fits in the soapholder perfectly and when I am using a small puck without a proper tub for it, I normally slip it in here. Ordinarily, however, I simply use the brush side of the holder as a place to store my in-use razors loaded with blades. (In the picture above, it has a leather-covered English Aristocrat Jr., a Pal adjustable, a Schick E2 and my Supply Provision injector sitting in it.) Apparently, the glazed edge of the holder is slightly abrasive -- it has worn off the black finish on my SP injector at the height of the edge, leaving the razor with a shiny bright ring around the handle. I have never noticed any marring on other razors before, so it may be a combination of a very smooth squarish handle and a slightly delicate finish, but it definitely is marking up this razor.

Fortunately, I have found a solution. I traded with Jim @Jayaruh for a couple brushes in trade for some razors, including my original version SP. Jim made himself a beautiful wooden case that holds his new SP and its spare heads safely snuggled into a nice felt lining. And he is now making me one. My SP will shortly have a solid new home that both holds it safely secured from further scuffs and scratches and also keeps its two spare plates with it so they don't get misplaced in the future.

 

If it delivers a good shave each and every day -- it's not pedestrian.

Happy Friday. One of my more eventful shaves this morning. Everything started off just fine with the lather. However, my mind kept wandering to different issues causing me to make mistakes. The Timeless OC bites those not paying attention and it got me three different times. Yes I am that stubborn. Other than a little blood, the shave was very close. A splash of Fine Lavender and I am off to work. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

 

The trip is going well. I’ve shaved with Palmolive lemon cream the past two days. Had a used tube from the pass-around and brought it with me. J1 injector, Omega synthetic brush, and Speick splash. Simple but good shaves. The Palmolive cream is quite slick.

Around 20,000 steps yesterday according to my phone. Today will be the same. Have a great day!

For today, the Jayaruh worked very well with what was/is left of my Local Gent Shaving Co. Fields&Streams. Got a bit of weeper at the jawline, but otherwise was very pleased. This was the first of 3 consecutive days with 3 different soaps to use-I'm not sure I ever did that before. Well, it's a way to keep things safe as a NB18er.

This will be my last adjustable shave of the month as next week I will start the Mayhem activities on Monday. MAYhem for me will a feature different razor every shave including a couple of shaves with my new aggressive ATT H1 & H2 heads, a couple of cart shaves, a couple of shaves with plastic razors, a cheap Chinese razor, a hyper-aggressive French razor, an ER 1914, and whatever other surprises happen to make their way to the top of the pile.

Today's shave was magnificent. I decided to throw caution to the wind and opened up the SA to 9. Loaded a new to me blade, whipped up a super goop lather with the big Battle Cruiser class synthetic and away we go. The Derby Pro felt like, well, a Derby. Not the sharpest but decent enough. The Jeeves Bay Rum gave it a super slick surface to glide across. Even though the blade wasn't the sharpest it got the job done, and with the SA at it's most efficient setting it brought the baby home after 3 passes. I finished off with some Stirling Glacial lemon chill for my daily face freeze which left my skin feeling soft and hydrated, once the numbness wore off that is. Have a great weekend my friends!!
