  1. Thanks for the detailed report, Bill. The razor looks gorgeous and it's good to hear about its handling from a genuine owner.

  2. A lot of great shave reports and photos already today, gentlemen! Plus some family photos that were a pleasure to see, @John Ruschmeyer and @Linuxguile. The continual mixture of shaving, life and shenanigans is what makes this such a wonderful place to hang out.
  3. Beautiful picture, Jim!

I've got big hands and this tiny brush requires using my finger tips for a grip. Otherwise it's dense and short lofted enough to load a semi-soft soap. Being a bright Spring day patchouli scented Glastonbury came due. Easy lather, one slightly used blade, and my chosen setting in this Futur clone supplied an error free reduction. Alum was smooth and quiet. The home made AS - EverClear alcohol, witch hazel, and E.O. gave a pleasant burn and just the right scent.
    Good Shaves Y'all!
  7. Very nice Rick! What ratio did you end up using for alcohol/WH in the AS ?

  9. I'm going to have the same issue as you tomorrow-waiting for Stoylin numbness to wear off...but it is supposed to be around 70, so I should feel comfortable enough.
  10. Half and half, same as the AS Tom @twhite made for me. I prefer high alcohol content and never use straight WH.

  11. Razor - Merkur 34c
    Blade - Astra SP
    Brush - Bluebeards Doubloon
Lather - Palmolive shave stick (mashed in a mug)
Post Shave - Witch Hazel & Arko 'Natural Krem'

Really loving the shaves from the 34c at the moment. Irritation has been greatley reduced, and I am getting a DFS each time with 3 easy passes! Really pleased that I gave this razor another shot!
  12. Thanks Clint! Big plans this weekend, neglected yard work and a much needed haircut. Have a great weekend!

  14. No problems with the clone? I've read about problems and people getting cut pretty good.
  15. Thank you Jim!

  16. Great photo Rick. You have me interested in making my own AS. Mmmm.
  17. The 34c is really a very razor.
  18. Great picture, Rick! I like the sound of the AS.

  19. Great picture of you daughter, John!
  20. I did a 30 Day Focus with it. Started at the lowest setting and bumped up to max. I found 4.5 (of 1-6) to be comfortable and efficient. Ride the cap, no pressure, DFS and no nicks!
