This thread has gone a bit quiet. Time to try out my fixed handle Kai Captain. Preshave: King of Shaves silicon Cream : Razorock Savon à Barbe Brush: Mühle travel brush Blade : Kai Captain. Aftershave : Nivea post shave sensitive balm. Wow - what a razor. Lovely grip. Great balance. I have visions that I'm wielding a high precision machete, hacking away the jungle of freshly sprouted stubble. The cream lathered well and was a good consistency for a shavette shave. I think I'll be sticking with Feather blades in it though.
I really like this fixed handle Kai Captain. It sits so easily in the hand and is compact enough that it allows you to get very precise angles. I found myself shaving old - style and got a very good DFS with a single pass.
Saturday Straights Shave Proraso Pre Shave Sterling Lime Shave Soap Jayaruh #277 Luxor Pro Master Derby Premium CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Lucky Tiger I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #277 silvertip badger brush. I did two passes with the Luxor Pro Master Razor using a Derby Premium blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
I have never been tempted by the Parker SRX... But with all the great posts in this thread... You lot have caught my interest
TOBS Sandalwood preshave oil SEMOGUE 820 Old Spice (from India) Feather AC SS fixed handle Feather Super Pro blade A bit of a mixed shave. The fixed handle SS is kind of a revelation. I was able to apply a LOT of lateral pressure from the face of the shavette whilst maintaining a very light contract between the blade and my skin. This meant I didn't need skin stretching at all because the SS lip was really doing its job. Mostly this resulted in a BBS in two passes. The issue was I was using a blade that should have been replaced a couple of shaves ago. I'm disappointed. A fresh blade would have been more satisfying.
I've been using my Classic Samurai. It's the cheapest shavette I've owned, but it shaves the best. The handle is thin and light plastic, but that makes it easier to see what I'm doing and the weight is in my hand, not sticking out away from my face in the handle. Much easier to control. Also, I bought a bunch of Shark single edge blades, and they work much better than the DEs I used to use. I suspect when I was snipping the DE blades, it left a little ridge that would cause the blade to sit at a slight angle in the holder.
Truefitt and Hill preshave oil Taylors of Old Bond Street Rose Shaving cream Fixed handle Feather SS Brand new Feather Pro Super blade Alum block Generic Silver Tip badger brush 2 days growth. The new blade took it to DFS in one WTG pass. I was enjoying myself so much I took a second XTG pass and face is BBS now. First use of the rose cream - perfect lather built on the face. Very enjoyable shave.

Major skin flare up this week, which means I am forced to shave just with Feather AC and TOBS as I have found that when things are bad, this is all I can use. I used my feather artist club ss with proguard blade for about the fourth time two days ago! (Three times in a row, two days apart). I have gotten over the fear factor, and so got a little careless and took a small divot out of my upper cheek. Styptic pen and which hazel later, and blood stopped. All in all, a good one pass shave! I am really getting to like this! My single and doubled edge razors are getting jelly. Sent from my BBB100-1 using Tapatalk
Getting into a rhythm with the Artist Clubs, and my bad skin has cleared up nicely. Tonight: Taylors of Old Bond Street Preshave oil Old Spice cream Omega 49 Artists Club DX with a Feather DX blade TOBS AS balm
Shave #33 on the Cape, the +20 canvas added to the normal 35/65-ish suede/cordovan the day before has brought the edge back pretty well. The Simpsons 58 Manchurian did the tango with the Mango for slick lather and I Coloniali AS balm topped it off. Cheers, Steve
Țruefitt and Hill preshave Geo. F Trumper crea. Semogue 820 Kai Captain fixed handle, Feather Pro blade One handed shaving technique for fun. The GFT took me by surprise. I have been unimpressed by Trumper soap - it lathers poorly and doesn't retain body. This cream, on the other hand, produced an insane amount of lather, unlike any other I've used.

I have been travelling all week and my travel kit comprised, King of Shaves pre-shave, Tabac shaving stick, lime handled folding Feather Artist Club SS. Back home now, Proraso Sensitive Preshave cream, TOBS rose, Omega 49, TOBS sandalwood A/S gel and I got to take my new Kai Excelia out for its maiden drive, powered by a Feather Pro Blade. 3 passes, handled like a dream, and left my face as smooth as an oiled lightning bolt.
